New contract for Iraola

I think you'd find Richard Hughes is an outstanding asset we are so lucky to have, who doesn't shout very loud but makes some amazing transfer dealings. He will help Iraola get who he wants but not blow tons and tons of money on one player. I believe Eddie thinks incredibly highly of him
Hughes or Iraola?

An interesting article here that gives a sensible perspective of recent events:

Interesting and good article.

Though this one para, the Liverpool result was under Parker, to Gary O’Neil’s credit he beat Liverpool at Dean Court and also Spurs away.

And you don’t need to feel too sorry for O’Neil either. He was handed an unexpected opportunity and took it. He will continue to feel the benefit. He will get another chance. He leaves Bournemouth with a newly minted coaching reputation untainted by failure. Far better this than finding himself back on the job market in September after another thrashing at Anfield.

Just been reading yesterday’s article in the Athletic re our new manager.

Found this bit interesting.

It may just be coincidence that Monday then saw Bournemouth decide to fire O’Neil and hire Iraola. Quite incredibly, the Premier League now has four coaches from the small Basque province of Guipuzcoa: Iraola, Emery, Julen Lopetegui and Mikel Arteta. Even more amazingly, Iraola first met Arteta when they both played for San Sebastian-based youth side Antiguoko in the late 1990s, so their Premier League meeting when Bournemouth face Arsenalin September should be special for both men.

Iraola is maybe the most low-profile of this bunch. In public he is still quietly spoken, respectful and even sometimes wary of the spotlight. How his methodical approach transfers to the pressure-cooker Premier League, and how he does against his Basque peers in such distinguished surroundings, is going to be fascinating to watch.

However at Bournemouth with money he feels he will be able to model his team with Richard Hughes.
That’s just stupid and I’m already questioning why the club as made this managerial decision.

Hughes retired years ago and now has limited capability and no pace. There must be better options on which to model a team, surely ;)

He must have seen that goal Hughes scored at Yeovil. Fairly certain that would have been big news in Spain at the time.

English language issue here, mr table!!!

It should be 'too' predictable or, if you were using a verbatim quote, the word 'sic' should have been entered after the quote.

Sent by an applicant to the English Language Appreciation Society (Non Conformist Branch)

Edited to note that Mr Trent must also be an applicant (see above)

I do hope the sic will be placed within square brackets thusly, [sic].

Genuine question: if we play a predictable style won’t other clubs find it easy to play against us?

Just picking on this.

Check out the Fluminense team. Their manager Diniz plays some really loose free flowing football. Very counter culture at the moment.

Fun fact, at Antiguoko from 91-97 Iraola and Arteta also shared the youth team with Xabi Alonso of Liverpool/Madrid/Bayern fame, who now also is a rising managerial star after a fairly good year with Leverkusen. Pretty amazing for a little youth club to produce 3 great players and potentially great managers at the same time.
