Non - Boris Johnson

Pre season can be a bit boring..but the Forum is slowly getting up a head of steam...dudes throwing curveball and getting tetchy etcetera...

I reckon this coming season is going to be a Ripper as such...
I'll do my best to gel the seriousness with mirth.... and flabbergast not a few along the way....with some stupefying angles !

Thats the second thread I've seen where you've posted that! I'm off to check all the others ;-)

The highlight of Torquay away was the pasties. The last time I went I took a sandwich box for orders from others. From memory they were Devon pasties as compared to the more well know Cornish pasties. The difference apparently is in the location and style of the crimping. All I know is that the pasties at Torquay United are the best I have ever eaten and a rarity of eating food at a football ground. (Morecambe pies were also great).

Perhaps Brian could do some research on our behalf.

Bristol Rovers did my favourite pasties.

Had one in my front pocket of my jacket - got squashed in that match we lost 5-2 but scored quite early ;)

I think they had Barry Hayles & Nathan Ellington up front.

I think Cornish pasties have 'Protected Designation of Origin',which means 'Cornish pasty ' can only be made in Cornwall. It's a bit like champagne,Melton mowbry pork pie or stilton.

Cornish pasties are now the best they've ever been across just about every outlet there is...due to the increased tourism, competition and subsequent marketing.
That's not to say that Devons efforts are not as good.. I've had some brilliant ones that side of the border in places like Tavistock, Okehampton and Holsworthy....and yes Torquay and Paignton...
....but on the subject of eating food...when it comes to Cream Teas.. .Dorset actually knocks Devon and Cornwall into a Cocked Hat !
While the latter argue about 'jam or cream first' nonsense....my old great-granny in Bloxworth just outside Poole taught me to swirl the jam and cream together before applying to the 'scon'......Ive demonstrated this occasionally down here when we are out and about in National Trust venues on Summer Sundays ....it's a brilliant conversation stopper !
