Nathan Ake

It’s bollox. The south west is Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. We’ve always been south coast or central south.

It's a European Union thing. South West England is a specifically designated region of England created following the Maastricht Treaty and used as a European Parliament constituency from 1999. If you don't like it then I suppose you can chalk it up as a Brexit bonus.

Wessex perhaps? But Dorset is South West, so Bmth is really in the SW. But agree, Dorset & Hants should be South Central.

Its wrong up here too, I live in SW Beds and it's classed as 'East of England' whereas Oxford is South East? Probably because it's posh ;)

There needs to be a South Midlands.

Agree, formally (assume its formal anyway. to some extent?) we're South West, no such thing as South Central is there?

But yes, we should be South Central. I'd prefer it anyway, rather than being lumbered in with a load of yokels/bumpkins :D.

Plus, I think Bournemouth has always been more alligned culturally (for want of a better term) with Southampton, hants and South East, than the South West, which begins around Wareham way perhaps, certainly Dorchester. Even Poole has always seemed a bit more 'west' flavoured compared to Bournemouth (more of a twang in the accent). Maybe not so much the past decade or so though.

Which sort of makes sense, given Bournemouth was hants until 70's (or was it 80's?.)

Boundaries changed in 1974. I agree Bournemouth is a Hampshire town really.

Accent wise it's a strange one, as you get a range of accents in the BH area - my dad is from Parkstone and he has a lot boarder accent than my mum who grew up in Springbourne - but not really a West Country accent as such. An ex of mine grew up right near Dean Court and she sounded almost Londony at times.

Generally, anywhere west of Poole is starts getting broader - then you get to Bridport and it's 'Oh hello DARLING! Toby! Come here Toby!!':ROFLMAO:

Ake must have done really well for you - so well he even got your club to move location!

We have the best of both worlds!

South East England is home to the counties of Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire. The area of Dorset which includes Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, links the South East to the South West, as outlined in the map at the top of this page.

It couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. Absolutely delighted for him.
Absolutely

Interesting that Ake starts the big games now (when fit) and looks very accomplished; 12 months ago looked a marginal player after a few injuries.

Plays as an inverted left back role but doesn’t attack that much - is this what are trying to do with lloyd Kelly? Of course, man c have more creativity than us ahead of him!

Best player ever to wear the red and black shirt, IMO. (Before I'm shot down, George Best was the better player, but not when he played for AFCB). No surprise how well he has done since leaving us, but he's probably surpassed even his expectations this season. Fully deserved.

Yep, we've had decent players, but Ake takes it reasonably comfortably imo.

No idea how we managed to hold onto for so long as was clearly capable of playing at a higher level to us (better team in pl/playing in Euro tournaments).

Rolls-Royce of a player, so composed, never flustered. Always seemed to deliver a minimum 7 out of 10 performance, even on a bad day.

And seems to be a model professional and decent bloke. Really pleased for him.

I don't remember him having a bad day.
