Little old Bournemouth

I'm old enough to remember more or less the same thread, at the same time last year, with the same couple of posters agreeing with each other.

To start with, we needed about 8 players to stay up. Then after 10 or so matches, it was obvious the players had always been good enough to stay up, we just needed someone better than a supply PE teacher to coach the team, to stay up.

Then we stayed up, even though we wouldn't be able to do it because we were 8 players and a good coach short of being able to do that . I just can't work out what needs to be done, maybe get a top rated coach, sign over 20 players and still finish below clubs like AFC Bournemouth, with their PE teacher coach and rancid recruitment

It's why us oldies let things unfold, enjoy today for what it is and not listen to siren voices decrying everything the club's doing.

If we can't trust Bill Foley to make his multi-million pounds investment work, who can we trust and what can we do about it?

I'm sorry but 'fans' like you need to be moved on. This club will never progress unless the supporters sh*t the bed all over social media whenever there is the slightest issue. Progress can only be achieved through internet histrionics and anyone who doesn't literally piss all over their own bedsheets about our right back getting injured is part of the problem.

This thread is.... truly bizarre. I haven't been this excited since the start of '15-'16. It's going to be a difficult and likely underwhelming start but I'm reserving judgement until we're a third of the way in. I can't wait to see what Andoniball serves up once we hit our stride.
I couldn't agree more! We might have only a handful (0-5) points from our first 7 matches. We could easily be on say, 9 points after 10 matches. What will things be like in here if that comes to pass?! But I think those are easy predictions based simply on the schedule and recent history of those teams. It is not a disaster by any means, but will be received as such by many. Gird your loins.

Lots of teams deemed as being bottom 10. It could be (I hope) as compelling as the 9-club mini league of last season. Already planning my Saturday morning, even earlier for you.

I have not been a fan long, but even still the negativity from some called fans of this club is to be blunt, fucking irritating and childish. Read the OP of course, and other people have replied to him nicer than I would tbh.

Call me a homer if you want too just because he is a fellow American, but Foley has more than put the money where his mouth is so far. The new pictures I saw today of the new training facilities look great, he has stumped up a very significant amount on transfers so far, etc.

I don't see how some people can watch sports period, nevermind the Cherries, if they get into a pessimistic mindset so easily; just boggles the mind. Take up knitting instead.

Tough set of fixtures to start the season and we may not get a lot of points, or hell we might; nothing is guaranteed. But call me a happy clapper if you want, but this constant throwing the toys of out of the pram(I think I am using that phrase right haha!) is ridiculous.

Iraola and company sees the holes we have and I am quite sure are working on it. Italian dude didn't go through, but did come out of nowhere, who's to say some more want? Still a lot of time left in the window.

So either be patient with those who make the decisions, or go get laid, drunk, whatever you have to do to get through things.

Mate you haven't seen anything yet - wait until you actually visit Bournemouth. We've all got faces like slapped arses.

A lot of older fans probably did quite a bit to keep the club from going under, so I'd imagine that they're loving what we've now become, enjoy every victory and want to see the club progress every year.

Its the height of arrogance to suggest they're sat back, stroking their chins and thinking "I don't care any more".

Those older people aren't quite so performative about showing how much they really, really care. And they don't need lessons from those who predict failure at every turn, or express disappointment at every non-signing or managerial appointment.
:clap::clap: well said, top post!

One or two on here should read this more than once.

A new stadium with increased capacity will help push us further up the pecking order. So instead of tinpot maybe we will be aluminum pot

Ultimately it all stems from being a town with many old and retired folk at its core…a football club rising still from the ashes of bankruptcy and decay…yes we now have investment beyond the wildest dreams of our old git fanbase!
We are developing and I am sure over the coming years we will have a stadium to befit becoming a force in top flight football…
But even teams like Brighton who have been a role model for breaking into the higher echelons of the PL are still patronised and seen as a small club despite shaking up the PL.

Problem with younger fans ...and some older...is that they get immersed in daft arguments about which players we should sign, their price and wages, contracts etc...all financial crap that they can't do anything about ..why waste time arguing the toss about it...
We are fans...just support what gets put out on the pitch...thats our role.

Agree in part with that.

Nothing better than cheering on the side regardless of performance. If we're playing sh*t the best and only thing you can do to have a positive impact is to support the team.

When it comes to off the pitch stuff. Football like all sport is a business.
Success brings wealth and wealth brings success. The secret is to get as much success out of your wealth as possible and as much wealth from your success. While we have little influence it's understandable why fans might be interested in it.

I remember when our young team were struggling and losing in the Great Escape season with Mel Machin as our manager, how all the fans got behind the team to become their 12th man.

The rest is in the football history books and articles.
