Dango Ouattara

I think he’s been very good as a fullback and could maybe be his future position. He needs a lot more experience there but the tools he has pace, athleticism are very much needed. Hope he goes from strength to strength
It's an interesting one, what if he doesn't see himself as a fullback? My son plays in the U13's as a centre back, he's really good there but he doesn't really want to play in that position, he sees himself as a CAM / striker. He's always hassling his coach to play him further forward. I guess if you're earning £50k a week (or whatever DO earns) you play where you're told to play..

Everyone wants to be a winger or striker as that’s the Sexy positions but with that comes the added stress of scoring and assists. U would hope he be happy just to play at the very highest level

The sheer rudeness of this post about Ouattara is shocking. You have no clue whether he understands whats being asked of him or not. And his performances in an unfamiliar position show his versatility, which of course doesn't merit anything apparently.

Its up there with Sinisterra looking disinterested.

The tactical stuff is neither here nor there to me, but your perceived ability to read footballers minds is amazing.
He doesn’t get picked. When he does the bench or players on the pitch have to coach him through games. I’ve never seen a player at this level need so much on field instruction. He has undoubted raw talent and is young. It’s not rude pointing these things out in my opinion.

Its really rude. In effect you're calling him stupid.

You attribute both performances at left back solely to the quality of the opposition.

When he arrived was it a “political” move because of the new 2 club owned by our chairman either in full or part? To my untrained eye he didn’t look to be worth the fee being somewhat raw perhaps because of his age. Performances as a winger were “mixed” and again to my untrained eye not a first name on the team sheet.

Circumstances now dictate that he plays as a fullback still raw in the traditional sense of a full back. As a club we have a history of forwards being converted to full back with mixed results. His performances as a full back were different and by default could be considered man of the match in one game if only through energy, endeavour and entertainment.

We can’t turn back time he is on our books I would suggest as a winger but not first choice. As to value for money time will tell but I suggest the jury is out with no clear majority.

Odd stance Rob. If I wanted to call him stupid I’d call him stupid. I’ve not got a clue to his intellect not that it matters as I’m not referring to it.

There’s been many intelligent people who don’t get game instructions in a sport and there’s been many unintelligent people who understand game instructions perfectly.

Dango needs and receives constant readjustments, instruction and the players display visual frustration with him when he plays on the wing for him not following the plan or playing out the pre rehearsed moves.

I remember a long-haired centre forward playing for Oakheath who was either too lazy or too much lacking in sporting knowledge to ever track back, no matter how much I shouted at him. Which do you reckon it was? :grinning:

Every player gets frustration from other players when it doesn't work. you are again on a mission to slag some of our players because they are doing well when you slagged them off before and the people who signed them.
Being proved wrong again, stop trying to prove otherwise.

As others have said, jury is still out. For 20m, I'd expect a regular contribution to goals/assists from a winger.

However Dango is young and should improve, especially under AI. He's had some champagne moments and he's produced some absolutely shocking performances (think Everton away) but that's not unusual for a 21 year old.

The left back thing is a bonus for sure, if he can fill in there when required then he's saved us 5-10m already.

With everyone fit, will he get the games needed to develop? I don't think 20 or 30 minutes here or there will be sufficient.

Of course this jury is still out. Trouble is that the foreman thinks the accused is guilty and will never change his mind.

The whole team has recently turned the corner with their levels of performances, but some seem to expect every player to become world class overnight.

And when they don’t they question their mental capacity to receive instructions.

And of course it’s tied in with the foreman’s view of the recruiters.

I think time and patience is required with any new signing, let alone any new signing who is also new to the Premier League.

That is then magnified further when they are also new to the country and/or young.
Totally agree. Hence why, the jury. - as even Rob is agreeing - is still out.

I can’t have made it any clearer. If you don’t accept distinguishing between innate intelligence of a human and football intuition you must have forgotten Gazza.

You don't have a clue about how much he understands his instructions yet it won't stop you arrogantly declaring you know best.

Jury’s out. We bought him as a winger and he doesn’t understand the system or what’s asked of him and has looked poor this season. As a makeshift fullback he had one ok game but had to be taken off as we were getting ripped down his side and one excellent game against no winger.

He's not really had a clear run in the team this season to say he's been poor IMO- one 90 min outing in the cup. And everything pre-Newcastle the squad was littered with underperforming players not understanding the system and poor link up play so a bit unfair to single him out.

The last 2 games he's been excellent and contender for MoM both times.
