Joe Linton was pretty crap before Eddie got there. Billing could definitely be as good if Eddie can get some consistency out of him. His best level is right up there.

Eddie didn’t get consistency out of him with us, and neither have his five predecessors. He was probably at his most consistent under GON being the main focal point.

True but tbf everyone was shite in that season he had here under Eddie including a number of players who had shown great form in previous seasons.

Hang on a minute, Eddie has already had Billing though! Haha

I know what you’re getting at though. But I don’t think this would make any sense from them IF they were going for a direct replacement. I know Eddie converted Joelinton into an all action box to box midfielder but I just don’t think Billing possesses the attributes or indeed mentality to play that role, particularly in a team that plays with a high press. Billing rarely looks comfortable as a central midfielder and we tend to struggle when he plays there. He’s a very good attacking midfielder/second striker though.

As I say, Eddie couldn't get a tune out of anyone that season so I don't think it's particularly strong evidence that he couldn't get Phil firing like he did for Mr Linton.

He definitely has everything in his locker to be an all action box to box midfielder imo.
