Championship 23/24

IF the table stays as it is. I think that’s 50% for automatic and 50% in the playoffs.

Without checking, I think all the teams in the playoffs last season didn’t have PP.

All depends how you want to frame it I guess. But it’s 3 clubs in the play offs with parachute payments. So 4 out of the top 6.

Last season 2 out of 3 promoted sides had parachute payments. So could well be the same this season.

From an AFCB perspective, if Ipswich take second place then who would we want to come up through the play offs?

Without knowing too much about them, I'm guessing maybe Hull? Looks like they have a new owner so maybe they're a bit more together than when they had the guy who wanted to change their name who seemed quite divisive.

Maybe Norwich could be good given their propensity to yo-yo.
West Brom, for the pub! And not as much of a ballache to get to compared with Norwich, Leeds or Hull.

I’m sure it’ll one of the big two though.

Almost half of those promoted teams go right back down and about 60% within 2 seasons.

There's a valid argument that there's a number of teams/club which are good enough to get promoted that either can't or don't want to establish a foothold in the Premier League.

Interesting.

It’s nothing to do with the original debate, but interesting nonetheless.

It would be useful to see the trend over the PLs history. Has this changed? I'm fairly sure that people have always said that the gap on quality is so wide it's getting impossible for none parachute payment teams to get promoted and for promoted teams to stay up... Yet they still seem to do both regularly.

Football is not ALL about MONEY....it's about good management, commitment, confidence, and ambitions!
Ipswich are on the brink of two consecutive promotions.

Can't be too many clubs that have bounced straight through from League One to the PL in the modern era. I think Watford did it in the 00s.

We came close of course doing it in two Champ seasons.

I’d like Norwich to go up through the play offs.

That’d set up them v Ipswich (presumbly) and Soton v Pmth derbies for shIts n giggles next season, keep plod on their toes.

You quite often lecture us that football is all about money these days.
Exactly.....I do because it's not right....not good for the game... Money has become the focal point for countless arguments, speculation, disputes involving and culminating in points deductions for selected clubs outside the rich Elite, those who have enough Money to create the unsavoury top echelon of the PL.
And yet 'afcb' fans centre their animosity and bickering around other small clubs. Beggars belief. Know your Enemy !
Don't come crying to me if our bubble bursts and we tumble down the Divs...as a result of financial penalties !

I would have no intentions of crying to you. Maybe that’s your thing. :nopity:
