AFC Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest - Sunday 2 pm

A Referee is a referee...the appointed official....it wouldnt make a lot of difference it was a Water Buffaloe, walking upright, in Kinky boots and a bikini....the players have to obey the Rules !

Didn’t play well. Forest were intent on cheating a weak ref. At one point Awonyi went up for a header, screamed, grabbed if face, in at attempt to get one o& our boys sent off. She didn’t fall for it but also did t book him for simulation, or as I call it, out and out cheating.

Yates is the new James Milner, being allowed to foul, moan and get in the refs ear with impunity, until he tried to amputate somebody’s leg.

kliuvert could easily have gone, booked for asking for a card, ironically saved a card by them asking for one.

Against QPR this ref did ok but today ws the complete opposite. The AR’s didn’t help much.

End of the first half, attacking corner for Forest, she let it be taken. End of the match, attacking corner for us and she blows up. Don’t mind which but please be consistent.

Billing’s red, seen in slow mo is understandable but nobody seeming wants to mention that they guy wouldn’t have broken free if Alex Scott was prepared to make a tackle instead of waving a foot in the general direction of the ball. I know he is highly skilful, I know he is young but surely playing mens football from the age of 16, especially at step 4, will teach you that you have to be strong to win a ball.

A thoroughly frustrating afternoon, we’d have lost that last year so I’ll take one more point towards safety. TBF, even with a man advantage Forest seemed more keen on holding on to a point than winning.

Not seen the highlights even as I had family stuff to do, but doesn't sound like she had a good game at all. As a woman, I believe fans should be perfectly at liberty to boo any referee regardless of gender. But, I suspect it won't be viewed well by most of her counterpart referees, who we also know have made some strange on pitch/VAR decisions indicating potential bias against us. We don't seem very popular with them anyway, so probably not in our interests to boo the first female Premier League referee for that reason.

The problem isn’t that she’s a woman. The problem is the current fast track system.

Referees used to spend years in the fifth/sixth tier then move up to League One/Two then a few years on the Championship.

That’s not been the case for Welch, Gillett, Brooks etc.

It felt like a lower league performance, where the ref has taken more attention than the players and that should never be the case.

What you and Rob say makes absolute sense. It's just that perceptions of prejudice aren't always logical. There is so much sensitivity surrounding it that it doesn't take much for people to get accused of being out of order even if it had nothing to do with her gender. For all we know, the referee herself may want to be treated the same as others do for crap performances, but there will be others jumping on it. Hopefully, other referees view it logically though, just part and parcel of being a referee.

It’s ok, it’s only a parody of himself. On here within seconds to criticise Christie, but Billing’s shall we say “lapse of judgement” doesn’t get a comment. Boring really.

Personal jibes aren’t warranted though.
OK DJ - agree with ur summation but still infuriating that he is so biased and vindictive towards certain players.

Ref poor. We didn’t play that well but got the point.

What a boring cheating bunch of tossers Florist are though. Really hope they get relegated.
A very succinct and accurate summary Rob. It hasn't taken Nuno long to mould them into a very unpleasant and unlikeable bunch of referee conners and Oscar nominees. Ryan Yates is a thoroughly nasty little piece of work who totally exemplifies what Nuno has turned them into. I'm surprised that they didn't go for Ashley Barnes in the transfer window and try to persuade Joey Barton to come out of retirement, as they would both fit in perfectly there.

I know the ref was bad and stopped the game far too much but Forest did well overall and deserved the point. We just kept running into them every time we attacked the wings. Sini probably our best player overall, we looked bit tired from the Thursday game at West Ham and not at our best.

Shame we lost the ball for their goal but it was a good finish. Other than that it was a very scrappy game the whole way tbh and once Phil got sent off at least we got the point and we didn't lose.

They do, but some things can be let go to allow free-flowing football. Sounds like she kept blowing for fouls, some of which could have been let go. Then she lost control of it by taking too long to issue yellows.

We lost our way from the second Christie
Got mullered by Dominguez. That sort of challenge probably was a yellow, but it was let go and just encouraged more of the same 'enthusiastic defending'.
Their CBs were all over Dom whenever it went forward but nothing given all game.
That said, we didn't move the ball fast enough, went long far too often and we're generally off the pace. Have to be pleased to pick up a point there.
In real time thought the red looked harsh, seeing the replay I think 10/10 for the idea, 0/10 for the execution

I dunno how many times have we seen players rake the achilles or the calf and get away with a yellow? There is no consistency that’s what creates the frustration.

Tbh stopping a breakaway with a professional foul is always going to bring greater scrutiny. That was a straight red card offence imo - no question.

Watching it live I thought yes it was a deliberate and cynical foul from Phil he's lost ball and tripped him up on purpose to stop a counter, definite yellow but I've also seen many cynical fouls like that get a yellow numerous times, the foul was in our own half and wasn't a clear goal scoring opportunity for them or an out of control 2 footed swipe which most reds get given.

Not if it endangers the safety of an opponent, which Billing clearly did.
Haven't seen it yet. Will be interested to see it. If he was careless and caught the player's achillies, that's a clear red even if he didn't intend to hurt him. All depends on the position of the other player when he went in. If the other player moved in at at the same time or after and exposed his achillies, that sounds like more of a yellow, but if he mistimed a tackle or went in with the achillies exposed there and then, it's a clear red.

It's yellow if he's not last man, and would be a good example of taking one for the team if he'd just pulled him back. It's all about how he broke up play. Achillies injuries can be career ending. If he's done that deliberately or went in knowing there was any chance of that happening, he deserves a 3 match ban.
