Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth

I had a Geordie commentator on my stream (possibly Steve Howey?) He was very unbiased I thought. He was particularly impressed by Lewis Cook, who I also thought was excellent again today. Outtara looked a threat when he came on too.
Sunderland fan?

Bloody hell, that was like Rocky IV by the end there. Actually think we probably deserved to edge that despite losing on possession. Newcastle were restricted to long range efforts, long balls and passing it round the box. Not the best day at the office for Solanke, but did show he will always be more involved against teams that don't play a low block. 10/10 for Semanyo's double somersault. Goal wasn't half bad either.

The Rocket is on the Motorway heading back to sunny sunny Boscombe. Thought the Angel of the North looked a bit rustier on the way up, maybe they could do with a gigantic umbrella on days like this : )

First things first, great to have a pre-match chat with so many of the Vitals illuminati, Bishop, Numbers Rob, Matt Stevenson and Nipper. Saw a "cheery" Redharry at halftime. Also had a chat with Les Mahagow, son and granddaughter down from Glasgow along with their "minder" Terry. Also some young whippersnapper shouted "no room for you table" from the lift, sorry if I know you but didn't recognize you : )

As for the match, absolutely cracking game, if not the result and the ref. Really good team performance from start to finish. Always looking to be on the front foot, regardless of the score or time left. After two seasons of "watching paint dry" football, it's excillarating. Well worth the before early start and after late finish to the day : )

Very positive, upbeat Riverside Rocket heading home. I know it's only one point we're bringing home but I feel we were mugged by the ref and his mate VAR : )

All you lucky so and sos staying up North tonight, I hope you all enjoy it and make the most of it ( if you don't wake up feeling hungover with hazy memories, it wasn't a night to remember) : )

Safe and swift journeys home for the rest of us : )

We outplayed them today, disappointed not to win but a well earned point. Good to meet Rob with the numbers, Matt with the stats and the tables before the game. I’ve not seen the penalty decision yet but the ref was up there with the worst I can remember. We really do play some fantastic football at times

I expect we will get an apology from Howard Webb, not that it will give us two points, though. Just feels like that was a complete stitch up, almost as though the VAR officials knew their justification was ridiculous but went along with it anyway to help out the bigger team. All we can really do is tske tge many positives from the performance and build on that.
It would be nice one day when a ref walked away from the pitch side monitor and doesn’t change his mind .

Cracking game! If we play like that every week, I'd be seriously entertained.

But I can't really believe that it's a penalty because he has no chance to play the ball. Makes sense, sort of, but totally stupid.

Just got back to the hotel, pissed wet through but at least starting to moderate my language. Felt like two points dropped. The ref was amongst the biggest homer's I've ever seen.
Thought cook played well. Smith and Tav less so. How did Tav not get subbed? Two excellent chances first half, but again we're not clinical.
Toon army only came alive in last 10 minutes. Our fans again done us proud. Not impressed with Matt Ritchie either.

Not a good result for me, we were playing a vastly under strength Newcastle without a single centre forward available. I’m still to be fully convinced by this style of football in all honesty, we look incredibly vulnerable at the back and if they had a centre forward available today I feel as though they win that comfortably. We looked great during the run but I’m not sure this football can be effective over an entire season, I think we’ll strike lucky this season though due to the very low standard of the promoted teams. I just don’t think you can be as open at the back as we are in this league.

I am still fuming at Adam Smith, how thick do you have to be in the VAR era to pull a shirt so blatantly in the penalty area?! He should be fined a weeks wages for that, it was so incredibly needless and so soon after taking the lead.
Mr positive strikes again
