Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth

F√cking Lineker eh ? What a Dinlo !
..last MoTD again...

Wolves at the dull stuff again ?
Spurs don't like ol' Gary much do they.... Recall that typically dull performance when he had the Cherries winning 3-2 there..
O'Neil has much better players at his disposal than we have.

Once his striker gets flogged off let's see how he does.

Re the referee looking at the monitor.

Listening to the game on Solent it seemed from what was being said that the referee must of looked at it a dozen times.

So surely if it takes him that long there must have been an element of doubt, so surely no penalty.

But what was also mentioned was it seemed he was looking to find something to give a penalty.

All the discussion and views will NOT make a difference to the result and no doubt something will happen again soon and the discussions will start all over again.

VAR was supposed to be a useful tool that would give answers and help officials.

All it seems to have done is get people asking more questions about the decisions being made by those using VAR.
Is that really you BTK?

You saying that?

Seems to prophetic for you.
Mate, they didn’t have a fit striker, most of their midfield out injured and they had Jacob Murphy playing centre forward for the last thirty minutes. They had to resort to bringing Matt Ritchie on to try and save the game for goodness sake! If you truly believe what we faced today was a champions league standard side then I don’t know what to say. I’m not sure why so many are struggling with the context here.
Almiron, Gordon, Guimares

There's just three players who would vastly improve our squad, without a shadow of doubt.

Our boys for the main part ayed very well.

For every good thing Cook does offensively, which is fcking rare, he makes defensive errors that result in opposition goals.

He has almost zero assists and goal assists to his name.

Despite taking corners and free kicks.

He isn't good enough and needs replacing.

An opinion, one you clearly disagree with.

He has cost us goals more than he's ever created any.
You really don't have a clue do you.

Our midfielder was the only "defender" in a position to block an easy goal. He was the only player still on his feet to make the block.

What's funniest is that you blame this one on cook not Kelly who slipped. But apparently the last game was Cooks fault as he slipped. You are so blinkered you make yourself look stupid with your hypocrisy.

The guy is a mutton head, I wouldn't worry about what he thinks.

Ridiculous penalty! I mean WTF?!? How can someone who's offside be fouled outside the box and get awarded a penalty? It beggars belief.

We totally outplayed them, their play acting was so annoying, every tackle we made was being given as a foul and even when (I think Cook) got clotheslined we weren't awarded a free kick. The ball went out one side of the pitch but because it was a Newcastle player trying to keep it in then it was playing on, then the other side Semenyo keeps the ball in and they give Newcastle the throw. Far too many fouls given for nothing.

I think it's a tactic teams are starting to use against us, if they're tackled throw yourself to the ground, the ref will give the free kick against Bournemouth, nobody important will complain.

I know transfer values are subjective, but if we assume they are subjective in the same way for all players and look at the Transfermarkt values for the starting XIs today, Newcastle’s was worth €315m and ours was worth €149.5m.

More than double.

Why should we “expect” to win?

Header??

Was nowhere near his head.

He kicked it to Ritchie.

Do keep up. The bit about winning the header was in relation to Kelly (who was on his backside), not Cook and was in reply to this bit of Druss' post that I was replying to.

"If only we had a taller defender who could have out jumped Ritchie in the first place.."

And he didn't kick it to Ritchie. Other than that, spot on.

By most of their midfield you mean Joelinton?

We were the better side, played some fantastic stuff and were undone by a dodgy VAR call and an unlucky set piece. We carved them open multiple times and played some fantastic football.

I find your take on this one absolutely baffling. Are you expecting us to go there, concede no chances and take all of ours? Do you genuinely think a low block approach would've been more successful? Newcastle create chances against everyone they play, they're a dangerous side. I think Wilson would've been less of a handful than having Gordon up there for our defence anyway TBH and Issak has missed quite a few games this season.

Those ratings are mind blowing. 6 for Cook! He was superb and up against one of the best midfielders in the PL.

I think you've got to be the only fan I've heard from who isn't loving this style of play and thinking we have progressed massively since last season. Bizarre.

We have 2 choices

1 Accept the reality, they don't want us here

2 Get right in their faces and despite 30/70 odds, stay there

Ps 50 50 today was a 1 - 3 win

What are we supposed to do?

Just seen this shite again

HTF is the player who is offfuckingside not interfering with play?

It's like they make up rules to f uck us over
It's absolute nonsense. In the equivalent situation, if a striker is played clean through and wiped out by the defender but is offside, no foul or red card will be given. He is offside at the moment the ball is struck.

VaR is destroying the game by faffing around with these bizarre interpretations. We've gone from "clear and obvious" to spending 5 bloody minutes while the VAR lot watch 2000 replays and frantically riffle through the laws of the game.

"Was in reply to this bit of Druss' post"

Makes no sense at all.

Cook was the last Bournemouth player to pass to Ritchie.

Just like he was the last player to pass to Fulhams goalscorer, who hadn't scored since the Jurrasic age.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here?

I'm not sure you quite connected with my sarcasm regarding O'Neil and Wolves.

Oh I think O'Neil would adapt if he lost a striker....the adapted with our lazy players last season and easily kept us from relegation..and like hundreds of other managers allowed his team to go 'on the beach' once the main job was done.

What's the difference between sarcasm and narcissism?

I'm sure only you Brian, can impart your wisdom here?

If we asked your good lady, would she say you were a narcissist?

It's mainly those who live with others who can give a full account.

Agree

The high press and foot in to steal the ball now gets penalised.

Being faster of thought, and getting a leg in, is now a foul.

It's almost like you can't challenge for the ball at speed.

Andoni needs plan B to win games, as VAR, and referees don't seem to like the way we approach games.

Doesn't fit the status quo.

But only when it's a 'small team'

Just got back to the hotel, pissed wet through but at least starting to moderate my language. Felt like two points dropped. The ref was amongst the biggest homer's I've ever seen.
Thought cook played well. Smith and Tav less so. How did Tav not get subbed? Two excellent chances first half, but again we're not clinical.
Toon army only came alive in last 10 minutes. Our fans again done us proud. Not impressed with Matt Ritchie either.
Interesting that some geordies thought the ref was too lenient re our fouling and thought we should have some reds dished out for accumulation of yellows.

Couldn’t go today - anyone agree with that?
