Lloyd Kelly

Struggling to understand why any club would want to sign such an injury prone player? He’s a decent player no doubt, but he seems to only be available for around half of the season. In fact I’m struggling a bit to understand why we’d even want to retain such an injury prone player, perhaps it’s a blessing that his contract is expiring. With him and Fredericks we have been very stretched in that area at times.

He's not an injury prone player at all. He’s having a season of niggles, it happens, you struggle with one injury your body compensates and you struggle with something else.

Last season he played 3/4 of the entire Premier League season, in the championship he played 79 of 92 games.

He’s a quality 25 year old who can play in two positions equally well, that’s why he’s worth his weight in gold to us and why top level sides across Europe are desperate to nab him on a bargain deal.

Agree. The more worrying thing is he is our replacement option looking at yesterday’s team for two key players one of whom is injury prone and the other is a potential for suspension. We are a heartbeat away from Mepham at LCB and Dango at lb.

relax, we're safe only needing a few more wins having had an impresssive season of transition/consolidation in the prem. relegation odds same as Chelsea's at 200-1. Why are you so worried?

'If' Kelly is off, I'd like to think we'll see Kerkez over Kelly at all times now. For me, Kelly should only be playing if we have no other options...

I'll be sad to to see Kelly go... Never understood the hate for him but he brings versatility, composure, pace, and experience. As SDD mentioned, losing him will cost us 2 players...

Agree with this. Given that we will probably be effectively safe by the time he returns from injury I would even probably keep meps in ahead of him, unless he's also moving on.

Meps has proven on several occasions that he can more than cut it at this level... He is no Senesi or Kelly, but he is a solid CB at this level. He'll move on purely through lack of minutes, which is. a shame but understandable...

Can't believe that folks are still judging his ability based on the Brentford incident...

You'd imagine that at this age he'll be wanting regular 1st team football, given sporadic nature of appearances over many years with us?

The Welsh manager wanted them playing regular football and Brooks and Moore moved for that purpose, but Mepham remained, by his own choosing, no other club came in for him or our club needed defensive backup?

Sheff u and I think a top 2nd tier club wanted him on loan in January if rumours are to be believed. We refused as need him for cover.

Interviews lately clearly suggest his willingness to be a team player is waning and wants to play regularly. Don’t blame him. Must be hard to come on as sub or replace an established player when not match fit. Training isn’t the same as playing regularly.

Like Jefferson did

Lerma was a little different... We were still fighting to stay up util 4 games to go and didn't really have cover of equal ability...

I dont have any problem with Kelly running his contract down (other than I'd rather we had sold him January for whatever we could have got for him, especially seeing as he's been injured for however long now), it's his decision and his right to do so... Not like he owes us anything, especially considering the sh*t he's taken over the last 18 months... We just need to now focus on the players that will still be here next season and Kerkez needs game time...

Im not worried about relegation. I just like to enjoy watching good football and not sure I get that with Dango at left back as opposed to an orthodox left back.
