Premier League say we are mathematically safe.

Usually you are not worth the effort but since you asked so nicely.

No it isn't and, no, you didn't.

Don't try and cover up for your own tendency to contradict yourself within a single post by attempting to re-write history.

You could start an argument in a phone box. Instead of doing it here, why don't you?

How easy it to find a phone box?

Think they still have some around Boscombe Crescent. No idea why...

Yes quite clear we're safe, mathematical/arithmetical or not.

Why waste brain power/time on it, when you can put it to better use writing 'rubbish' or weird, homo-erotic stuff on here instead :D
Yes Indeedy !....Way to Go....

...I really will try though...next Seazo...to be somewhat less of a melancholic and wistful wart on the skin of this ere mod - fangled fort !

0% chance of relegation but there's still an outside chance we could finish above Villa or Spuds. Crazy thought but won't happen (saying that, Villa's run in is awful).

The fact that one of the worst Manure sides in living memory may still finish 4th is equally crazy.

It's even more pointless now than it used to be to start an argument in a phone box, as nowadays none of them seem to have phones in them.

Anyone done the MATH.

Gosh, annoys me how they drop the s :D

(Seeing as now owned by Americans...).
Agree. And they need to stop getting "couldn't care less" wrong too !

"I could care less" implies that your level of caring about it, has not yet reached rock bottom, i.e. you do actually care about it, even if just ever so slightly, because you say you are capable of caring LESS.

The expression is "I couldn't care less" which makes it clear that you really don't care, which is why the expression exists in the first place.

Any more for any more ?

Schedule is pronounced ‘shed’ and not ‘sked’. Drives me round the bend.

Someone told me once that "could care less" was a shortened version of a longer sentence that just took hold, such as "I could care less but I don't", which apparently was a sarcastic extension of the original "couldn't care less".

Similar to when people use "the proof is in the pudding" as a shortened version of "the proof of the pudding is in the eating".

No idea of the truth of it.

So many of these get misunderstood over time. Money is not the root of all evil. Love of money is.

I think your explanation is likely to be near to the truth but the new version loses the meaning of the original expression, so is a bit daft.

People ( of all nations ) saying the proof is in the pudding also annoys me tbh.
The proof is in the eating, obviously.

Meanwhile, back at the are we safe? question, I have my own take. It is simply this. When we have more points than each of three other teams can possibly achieve, then we are safe.

I am keeping to that although, as pointed out in the Ten games to go thread and above, the chances of relegation for us are extremely small.

We categorically are not safe mathematically yet. All the teams below us apart from Sheff and Burnley can overtake us without any doubt. They can all get to the 39 point mark without worrying too much about having to beat a Man City, Liverpool or Arsenal.
If we win tonight then it gets almost impossible for them.
I think we are there but lets just get over the line.

I don’t think all of them can
