AFC Bournemouth v Crystal Palace - Tuesday 7.45 pm

Fantastic result. Was always going to be a difficult game. Had all the hallmarks of an away win when abeam hasn't won away in nine prior to this and a new manager. Well done you Chezzers.
UTCIAD

Bit like Everton game. Perhaps a draw.

Starting to have that feeling probably haven't had since league1 days ie we're going to turn up and getting result at home to mid/lower table teams.

I’m enjoying this fatigued and tired team.

Can’t wait for the next instalment of R&R telling us how concerned we should be about the Luton gam, and completely ignoring the fact Luton have 24 hours less recovery.

6 pointer?

That Adam Wharton looks a very good young player. Six months you get than Alex Sco signed him for similar fee in Jan window.

Palace signed him for just under same fee at end of Jan window, from Blackburn.

His older brother is tall cb for Blackburn... altgough somewhat limited player. Decentn 2nd tier cb though.

Only just got back from work and watched the game.

With the conditions it looked like it had 0-0 written all over it until a bit of Kluivert magic.

Really starting to like Kluiverts badge tapping.

Not many players have tapped our badge over the years.

That Palace offside was the cruelest of the cruel offside, but thems the rules.

No way a normal ref without VAR would have called that off.

Palace looked alright, but the conditions went against both sides.

Can't see Palace getting relegated.

An experimental team selection from Andoni which is good to see.

That top half finish looks more than achievable, the European spot looks like the players aim.

I hope for all the people who have bets on the top half, and for Andoni and the players.....there is everything to play for.

God bless our fans, players and manager, and Bill Foley who has allowed this all to rise a level, and has seen two scrappy wins on his travels.

Not champagne football, but a bloody well deserved result.

My take:

-Decent enough performance against another side who came here with the aim of frustrating us.

-We created some great chances with some lovely football.

-We are a much better team with Kluivert in, like I said previously. Unless the number ten is a ‘second attacker’ then Dom just becomes too isolated for us to be an effective attacking force. Billing is a good player but just doesn’t have the attributes to play that role in this team, nor does Scott.

-On the subject of Scott, I’m struggling to see what it is that he offers us at present. I get that he’s young but I can’t really work out what type of midfielder he is supposed to be, doesn’t look ready for top flight football to me. Doesn’t seem anywhere near robust enough at present to compete for duels and frequently loses the ball in dangerous areas. He is young but so are Kerkez, Zabarnyi and Dango, and with all three of them you can at least see glimpses (or more than glimpses) of what they can offer, with Scott I don’t really see it at present.

-As I’ve said all along, Semenyo is a player. How we were able to sign a player if his talents is beyond me. Incredible pace, power, dribbling and strike from both feet.

-Cook excellent again, does such an important job but very few will acknowledge it. Dark horse for player of the season for anyone who understands the game (I wasn’t a fan of his previously so can’t be accused of bias.)

-Zabarnyi will play for Man City one day. Our fans hyped about Ake but this guy is clear of him already, and I’m not being hyperbolic no. He really is that good.

-Would really like to see more of Unal, looks very promising in glimpses.

Hindsight Waz, with his perfect analysis of what has already happened.

The only thing I do agree upon is Alex Scott.....another Joe Rothwell.

The ball playing mopper upperer who can carry the valley forward.

That's two of those we have signed and none of them fit into the team.

Really can't see Scott performing at this level.

Probably a loan to Southampton next season.

The Guernsey Grealish????

It's his opportunity to grab, but at this stage completely overhyped.

Haven't seen him comfortable in any PL game so far.

Another Plum Gurensey appertichitzer shiyster Richard?

Put it on Neil's tab.

Edited to add....Waz claimed Rothwell was our best player ever......then he dropped down a league and is currently benched.

He also claimed Scott would be.......

Waz, give it up Muppet.

The hindsight king under Waz, but with 4 different usernames with different options to dig the hole.

Also Kerkez was great when he came on, really showed his potential last night.

Dango should never start on the left wing, he offers very little there. He was good last season on the right but AI never plays him there.

Scott will clearly come good. He can make things work as a 6, 8 or 10 but it was a poor performance by him. He’s young, he’s going to have those games.

Kelly looked majestic, he’s impressed at both centre back and left back previously, he managed to do both in the same game last night.

But once again, we looked a far better side once Billing was withdrawn and we had Tav, Kluivert and Semenyo supporting Solanke. That front four is our clear first choice, they just have better chemistry and higher tempo to their game.

Billing’s own highlight reel will look good, but it doesn’t tell the story.

Dango should never start at all.

The Tottenham winner was worth 6 million.

Since then zero.....erratic, clumsy, awful.

Name we one PL team who would want to sign him...Burnley, No, Luton, No......Sheff UTD......maybe.

Dango Outtara is not a PL level player, no matter how much we love him and wish he was.

Absolutely awful at this level.

I think he's a number 8. Has the workrate and qualities to support attack and defense, but not quite strong enough defensively or going forwards to be a specialist in those roles.

He wanted the ball last night, was readily available all over the pitch. And looks to go forwards.

Some players take a little longer to 'click' than others. Remember, he had been hampered by couple of 'outages' due to injuries this year that wouldn't have helped.

His character (work ethic, willing to learn improve...no ego) means I know he'll come good and will be an outstanding player.

Comments like not sure what he offers are unnecessary and premature imo. He'll come good, just be patient.

Rothwell is no more than a top Championship player. Scott will play for top club one day, and likely be capped by England. No comparison imo.

Agree about the game, decent and deserved win though not dominating.

-Regarding Billing and Kluivert, would the opinion differ if Billing's shot that skimmed outside the post and the saved header went in? Kluivert absolutely fits the system well, probably better than Billing, but sometimes I think opinions can too easily be swayed by goals. Billing looked quite good in the first half to me, like a player really trying to stake a claim to the starting spot and a bit unfortunate to not get any results from his effort. I'm not saying he should start over Kluivert (who fits the system better it seems), but looking at performances like this and when he was subbed in against Luton before that game was called off, I think he is able to perform in Iraola's system.

-Scott, I think, is mostly a form issue. He has had some of the glimpses too, like his goal against Tottenham and the run that set up a goal for Kluivert earlier in the season. Just needs to find some consistency, which isn't too unexpected for his age. Withholding judgement until he has another year or two with us, there definitely is promise in him despite current form.

-Full agreement on Semenyo. Better on the wing than as a striker I'd say as well, since he seems to benefit particularly from being able to isolate his opponent and drive at them, which is less available in a more central role.

-Same with Cook, his versatility has been a major plus.

-Will slightly disagree with the Zabarnyi comparison to Ake, just that I don't think he's quite hit the point of surpassing. Already close to if not equal, but personally will want to see him maintain this level for a longer period before I'll say he's surpassed Ake (though him managing with various CB partners this season does put him in a good light). Definitely bound for a top Champions League team in his future, just hope we can get another year or two before selling for a massive fee. Getting him was an absolute coup.

-I've been impressed with Unal from what we've seen so far. Not quite to Solanke's level yet, no, but reminds me of Solanke's earlier seasons where I had confidence that he'd eventually be able to find consistency for us. Makes me a bit less worried about possibly losing Solanke in the summer, though I'd prefer to keep him of course.

I heard Semenyo arrived late.
From Echo.

Asked to clear up the confusion around Semenyo’s involvement, Iraola explained: “He was not feeling 100 per cent.

“He had kind of a cold, not something big, but he was not feeling perfectly.

“We decided to put him on the bench. That was the situation, nothing else.

“We were discussing, because in the last two days with Meps, Enes (Unal) and Antoine, they had not been feeling well and we have been dealing with this kind of situation, but it was clear that was always part of the squad.”

If Andoni wants to improve next season he needs to replace:

Billing
Cook
Outtara
Radu
Fredericks
Faivre

That's 6 players who can possibly improve the team who currently contribute next to nothing compared to comparable players they compete against.
