Gary O'Neil

Richard Hughes I thought started his job there next season and this season is still employed by AFCB.

So surely can’t have a say at the moment in Liverpool appointments.

Fenway Sports Group head of football Michael Edwards, assisted by newly-appointed Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, has been tasked with pinpointing the new boss, with it understood for some time the hierarchy are willing to pursue a manager who would best fit the revamped structure of the club rather than merely be the popular choice. The Reds won't shy from making an unexpected decision.

With Julian Nagelsmann, another name mentioned early on, committing his long-term future to the Germany national team, the early contenders appear to be slowly being removed from the conversation.

That, then, goes some way to explaining the raft of new names that have emerged in recent days. Feyenoord's Arne Slot was mentioned over the weekend, while Gary O'Neil of Wolves has also had tentative links, not least having worked previously with both Liverpool at the Academy and as Bournemouth boss when Hughes was at the South Coast side. And Thomas Tuchel, who succeeded Klopp at both Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, has also gained some traction.

Liverpool are my second team and the fans would not be happy with JON as manager/coach as his style of play is not what they want, same reason why cherries got rid of him

Yes. Apparently winning the league is not possible with such a weak and threadbare squad.

He might consider Man City if they come a’knockin’ although he would need guarantees from the board that funds for the necessary recruitment will be made available.
And then complain that the players were only good enough for the Premier League and not the Champions League.

Sounding more and more like Dyche every week.....". If you look at the net spend, they are the fifth highest spenders in the league in the last two windows. We are in similar positions in the league but different situations. I’m fully focused on our situation"..........
“I had an opportunity I enjoyed, a tough opportunity, people see Bournemouth as giving me a first shot at it. I was given an incredibly difficult task, the team had just lost 16-0 on aggregate over last three games. I managed to make a decent go of it, hence my opportunity at a big club like Wolves"

Lol he's the (head) master of self praise.......Why is he so bitter?.....

Because he has little man syndrome. Zero class. What a tosser.

Pretty clear that he's looking at the relative league positions of the clubs and has his excuses in early if we finish above them. I hope we smash them and Brighton.

Next manager odds at Liverpool. AI even makes the top 8.

Football is weird sometimes but I can't see GON at Liverpool. His safety first approach would not go down there well and he doesn't have anything like the profile their fans would expect.

I don't think any of those names are high profile enough for Liverpool and there're all a step down from Klopp.

Look at net spend over 5 years, generally (but not always) a better indicator of the cost of a squad and they've spent more. So it'd be a failure if they finish below us.

exactly which part of what he said do you find so egregious?
our spending, their league position, they're a big club.......what?
The big club. It might be true but only a dick points it out in relation to their old club. Eddie wouldn’t say it and neither would Andoni. The selective use of 2 years for spending when they’ve got 50m players in their squad smacks of desperation.

Hmm says the guy who consistently uses selective facts

agree with this, I didn't care to much about GON since he left us sort of a thank you and good bye, but he has shown lack of class there, I hope next season he get relagated and the GON bubble truly burst

the old club that sacked him after achieving his objectives with ignorant elements of it's supporters delighting in that sacking and then taking huge offence when he answers questions about it

desperation indeed

The sad thing is that he's looked up that net spend stat.......does anyone think that Andoni gives a toss what another teams net spend is?.......he says he's fully focused on Wolves but he's clearly not.
