Neto is a decent enough keeper. He just plays in a position where any mistake/ perceived mistakes is criticised
Just last night Onana made a howler, Dubravka was nutmegged by a shot which was ok, but by no means a rocket and Allison gave away a pen (got lucky with VAR) and let a shot squirm under him for a goal. Neto would have got hammered for all of them.

Those 3 cost £113m between them. Neto was a free transfer

He won the Micky Cave I'm pretty sure. For me he is very similar, a very good shot stopper, decent distribution, could command his area better. Personally I prefer Neto but can see why others prefer Travers. And he has a much better chant

Unsure if Iraola knew that Wolves' only real threat would come from crosses into the box, and so that factored into his selection of Travers for this game specifically , or whether it was purely down to Neto's recent form / wanting to have a look at Travers. Either way, I was pleased with Travers claiming as much as he could with minimal fuss. I'd need to see the two Wolves "goals" back but not sure Travers could have done more about either? I'd be happy to see Travers have more games before the season is out.

Appreciate PSxG isn't the be all and end all but just as a benchmark it's about as good a metric as you can easily get for working out a 'keepers impact on the scoreline.

Wow Neto is a better keeper than Alisson......who knew......yeah I think that kinda kills it for me.

PSxG is post-shot expected goals. This comes from a model that estimates the probability of scoring from a set of shots. Subtracting goals allowed provides a measure of the keeper's shot-stopping ability. Neto is a very good shot-stopper. He does not excel at other facets of that position to the same level, I think it's fair to say.

So the post shot expected goals faced per 90 sounds worse than it is.
Basically it means against the league average how many goals more or less a game a 'keeper concedes.

To break it up, I'll assume you know about xG so post shot xG is the expected chance of scoring once the ball has been hit effectively the quality of the shot once taken. You can then by adding up all the chances faced compare it to the number of goals conceded. That effectively tells you how many goals the 'keeper has prevented (or not) against the league average.

The problem with that is a bit like goals scored if you've only played 10 games you're less likely to have scored more goals than someone who's played the full 38 so you measure it per 90.

The problem with it is that facing large volumes of shots will increase the value more dramatically one way or the other so you can either look at the PSxG as a qualifier. For example to please TF if you look at Pope and Allison either side of Neto, per game they face almost half as many PSxG so they have less opportunity to effect a game positively.

Regardless being positive means you're above average and negative is below average.

Nathan Baxter in the Championship table for example had a blinder of a season because he prevented one more goal than Travers over the course of the season with about half the number of opportunities.

The football is obviously the focal point of the day but I find it's best not to pin your entire enjoyment of the day to it. I don't miss as much of the game as that podcast guy does but I also don't think I've seen Dom Solanke score at Fulham despite being there for all of those games.
