Good news thread

There has been lots of criticism over recent times about the handling of the corona virus.

On a positive note, last week I had a missed call from the government helpline but while I was in the garden I received a call a few hours later from the same number asking how I was getting on and if I needed any help re shopping, collecting medicines etc.

Last night I received a similar call only this time it was from the BCP community helpline asking similar questions.

So amongst all the negative stuff we are hearing, there is some positive things happening, only they don’t get the coverage so much as the negative stuff.

NEARLY 80 people have been discharged from The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals after contracting coronavirus.

The announcement comes as the RBCH NHS Foundation Trust moved to release hospital discharge figures in a weekly roundup.

One of the 78 patients discharged after contracting the virus was cardiac nurse Tracey Whitcher.

Ms Whitcher’s colleagues formed a special guard of honour for her as she left hospital.

About time this thread had a bump.

From Echo story re two patients at the RBCH.

Associate director of operations at RBCH, BJ Waltho, said: “We have got some really good stories of people.

“An elderly couple, a husband and wife, came in from a care home and were both very, very poorly.

“We nursed them together in a ward, so they could be together, and they both went home and they were in their nineties.”

Brilliant.

Will be many more Badgers, Foxes, Deer and various birds who will prosper.

I get enough of these already thank you very much, they make my efforts at having a lawn look like an old time football pitch at the end of a very wet game!

The birds are OK, the wife encourages those.

The AFC Bournemouth first team squad have pledged to back a new campaign called Boot the Virus, which aims to support the NHS as they continue the on-going battle with Covid-19.

The initiative, which looks to bring together the football community, has been set up by two Preston North End fans to raise crucial funds for the incredible work being done by NHS staff across the country.

The couple are asking professional footballers up and down the country to donate a pair of signed matchday boots, which will then be auctioned online. Fans will be able to bid and help raise money that will be sent directly to the NHS as a result.

AFC Bournemouth is pleased to announce that the first team squad members will donate a pair of boots, becoming the first Premier League team to have all players make the commitment.
