Interesting article on our transfer policy

There's people in Bournemouth and Boscombe that have been seeing Pokemon for years : )

After all, one area of Boscombe is called Pokesdown : )

Can't imagine Meldrum managing to write an article half as eloquent or knowledgable on AFCB even though it's his full time job .

In previous seasons the signing policy has been balanced by bringing in experienced old pros, Harte, Distin, Murray.

Will there be one this season?

Do we really need one? They were all brought in to help the team adapt to a new league and the challenges ahead. Being that we coped fairly well in our first season I can't see what good an old pro would do for us. If they were to bring one in as a coach, that could work but do we really need to give up a place in the 25 man list for another Murray/Distin?

Boruc, Francis, Daniels, Surman, Arter are the senior pros of this squad now. Of course Boruc and Surman to a small extent aside, they all 'only' have one year of top flight experience behind them. If we can get a PL experienced defender who isn't crocked and past it, then that would be ideal. A very hard scope though.

bearing in mind karen brady's speech at the business leaders 2016 conference this morning in which she said the impact of brexit on football could lead to two thirds of current pl footballers not receiving visas, our transfer policy of buying mostly british players adds even greater value to our squad

That is with the current rules. We would be mad not to change them considering the amount of income football must generate for HMRC.

Why would Europeans not getting visas affect HMRC?

With loopholes and creative accounting and whatnot, I've heard many footballers pay approximately 2% tax.

It is naive to assume that just because clubs can't pay European's they will pay British players the same amount even though they aren't what they want. Lower wages means lower tax.

Players like Mikel Arteta, Manuel Almunia and Gerard Deulofeu would not have been able to get a visa under the current rules who would all be/have been on massive wages contributing a considerable amount of tax.

I'm sure many do. When Carlos Tevez payslip got leaked, it was pay as you earn and paid more than £80k tax a month.
