London Resort - England's Disneyland

Set to be given permission for building despite the doom warned by Remain and the consequences of COVID bs.
Set to generate £50 Billion in 25 years and supported by Paramount. We should've kept our shares in the Euro Star and then we would be bailing out France and Belgium's national rail. A bit of hope within the eternal doom people read from our truth telling mainstream media. On a separate note why are the Chinese so obsessed with buying private investments in the UK? (Bournemouth Collegiate Private School being one) previously phucked over by Lloyds Bank, have we got a Gulag in town to look forward too?, CCP clearly testing the sellouts and they've been doing it for years in many countries.
But forgetting political allegiance this country will always be the most famous country in the world, the origin of English language and much more

maybe the ccp will try and breed us out like in Mongolia

And let's not forget the Normans, those French-speaking Vikings, who invaded England and imposed their laws and much else on Anglo-Saxon culture.

The modern English language is essentially a fusion of old West German and Norman French - that's why it's so rich.

But, forgetting history, this country was invaded the by one of the most famous of the west Germanic tribes, the Anglo-Saxons, who brought with them the proto-English language and much more.

Actually, the British Isles were invaded by the Saxons (and a few other smaller tribes), in which after they settled, became the Anglo-Saxons, hence the name

The oldest source that we have is Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum aka The Ecclesiastical History of the English People completed around AD 731.

The lead author, Bede, names three tribes. Using the Fordham University translation from Latin: "Those who came over were of the three most powerful nations of Germany Saxons, Angles, and Jutes."

So East Anglia is named after the tribe that settled there, not that the people were named after the area. Bede again, "From the Angles, that is, the country which is called Anglia..."

But maybe Bede got it wrong and we know better in 2021.

Don't forget the infusion of Latin vocabulary into English. That answers the question, "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

It's difficult to measure how famous a country is...are we really more "famous" than, say, the USA ? Whatever, its certainly true that for a smallish island off north west Europe, we've played a massive role over the centuries. Not always for the good, it must be said, but equally, not always bad either.

For a very interesting discussion on Britain and its ability to project "soft power" in the 21st century, I'd absolutely recommend "The Great British Dream Factory" by Dominic Sandbrook.

The Anglo bit comes from the Angles, yet another tribe of bolshy Germans, who decided they'd like to live here.
And which still continues today, or at least did do until we stopped freedom of movement, ask 3million Poles why they wanted to come here , infact ask the same for most of eastern Europe. It certainly wasn't for our rich language roots.

There are about 800,000 Poles in the UK. The number peaked at around 1,000,000 a few years ago and has declined since.

I think that from north to south the influences of the Vikings were the strongest in our History.
I have just re-read a book by Thomas Williams 2017..Viking Britain..cracking read...which seems to suggest generally, that their culture was easy to adapt to ( with gentle persuasion !)
The later incursions of Vikings brought leaders with superior organisational skills apparently...and of course the Normans ( French turbo -Vikings ?)
The Romans had brought the rich language injections of Latin....and whiz building skills.
What's not to like....I'm blessed...fair hair...brown eyes..... ...haha!
