AFCB Hope Keep This Run Going

The Cherries made it three home wins in a row after beating Crystal Palace by the only goal of the game for our first 1-0 win this season and first clean sheet in the league at home since Boxing Day. Also five games unbeaten. Our next fixture is away at Kenilworth Road the home of Luton Town. The game is on Saturday at 3 pm. AFCB have only played two games between our last fixture at home with the rearranged game against the Hatters and this fixture away against them.

The last time the Cherries visited Kenilworth Road to play Luton Town was back on the 15th January 2022. Both sides were then in the Championship and AFCB were promoted at the end of that season. The Hatters were promoted via the play-offs at the end of the following season. Since coming into the Premier League Luton Town had to make some improvements to their stadium and spent around £10 million refurbishing it.

Since our teams met at Dean Court, Luton Town have drawn at home with Nottingham Forest, lost away against two London clubs, Spurs 2-1 and their latest game Arsenal 2-0.

In our away league games against Luton Town, AFCB have W 7, D 7, L 15.
All competitive, AFCB have W 26, D 17, L 22.

The last time our two sides met (mentioned above) away at Luton, the game finished in the home sides favour. Luton Town were the first on the scoresheet with Lloyd Kelly scoring an own goal. Allan Campbell made it 2-0 three minutes before half-time. Six minutes into the second half, Emiliano Marcondes scored for AFCB and Morgan Rogers scored the equaliser with 22 minutes of normal time left. Then seven minutes into injury time, Kal Naismith scored the winner for the home team, making the score 3-2.

Luton Town Team News
They have a long injury list.

Luton Town Player To Watch
Ross Barkley has been important in their midfield for them this season. Tahith Chong looked lively against us at Dean Court. Alfie Doughty always a threat from set pieces.

AFCB Team News
Chris Mepham missed the Crystal Palace game due to illness.

AFCB player To Watch
Antoine Semenyo has been an important player for us in our recent unbeaten run of four wins and a draw. Scoring 3 goals plus an important assist against Palace after coming off the bench and as reported, feeling unwell before the game.

The Referee
Andy Madley is the referee for this game and the third time this season he will be in charge of a AFCB league game. The previous two were the away game against Sheffield United and home against Liverpool.

Andy Madley had the temerity to not give a penalty today after VAR Michael Oliver called him over to the monitor. I thought his decision was proper, and unfortunately noteworthy.

Acknowledging the input of AFCBade to this, "The Reds are staying up," must surely feature heavily in the song book on Saturday afternoon.

The real question is do we give them a three goal start?

Chong and Doughty both injury doubts. Luton currently top the premier league injury table.

When I spoke to some their fans before that epic home replay they said they said most of their substitutes were league 1 standard. Chong was a massive PITA first half that day. If he and Doughty aren't fit it could be a comfortable win. We also need to let them have the ball for a bit, rather than letting them play on the break like they did in the first half last time. It's why they've performed so well against the big teams. With the ball they're less effective.

Cheers Billy. Your finger is clearly firmer on the pulse than mine. God knows what I was reading.
Possibly this from their website and press conference re Arsenal game.

Burke was not in squad last night.

Alfie Doughty, Tahith Chong and Reece Burke were all forced off in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham and Edwards says a couple of those are “very doubtful” for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.

The Hatters trained later on Tuesday afternoon to assess the fitness of the trio with the manager confirming that no other player on the Town’s treatment table will be available for the clash with the Gunners.

“We’re likely to have 11, 12 or 13 players out,” smiled Edwards through gritted teeth at his Tuesday press conference.

Luton with a small ground like ours will have their fans right behind them and they are a ‘dangerous animal’ at home and have given some of the top teams a tough game when they visited Kenilworth Road.

Should be another good game Saturday, but that evening 4-3 game at Dean Court is going to take a long time to beat.

I hope that first half gives our players a reminder about complacency and how tough this game will be unless we're right on it.

The Hatters will be fighting for every point as they try to stay in the top league.

Our side are safe now, but have the target of getting as many points as they can muster and put Eddie Howe’s 2016-17 AFCB’s highest points total in this league of 46 points at risk.

This is positive news.

ANDONI Iraola says it is not “impossible” Marcos Senesi could return to action this weekend, as he steps up recovery from his hamstring injury.

The Argentina international has been absent since limping off during the early stages of last month’s 2-0 win at Burnley.

But the 26-year-old could be back available again when Cherries face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday (3pm).
