NON: Moyes Leaves West Ham

If the West Ham hierarchy wasn't such a clusterfcku, I'd be concerned. If Everton didn't think they were Chelsea in disguise, I'd also be concerned.

Bit leftfield, but if CAshley doesn't provide Rafa with funds, could see him going to West Ham.

Side note, can't believe Arteta looks to be given the Arsenal job with such little coaching experience. Are they thinking he could do a job similar to Zidane? Eddie's coaching CV must surely eclipse Arteta who has won a Prem title only by being at Pep's side.

Interesting comment as I was chatting to a West Ham supporting colleague last week and he said the word on the street was Benitez.

Believe the guy West Ham are after is Fonseca from Donetsk. One of those appointments which could be really sucessful, or backfire spectacularly

West Ham will link themselves to all the top managers, Pep, Jose, Arsene, Poch', all the successful managers at the World Cup, the crème de menthe of European football. In the end they will plump for someone cheap and disposable from the Championship or below ( maybe a chance to return to competitive football for Big Brendan ) : )

Arteta has been getting rave reviews for a while now, the players and staff at City speak very very highly of him. If Gerard can get the Rangers gig then why not Arteta at Arsenal??

Absolutely right, I read the same about Arteta, but I don't necessarily agree with Gerrard at Rangers either. Ultimately, it's up to the board and an ex player is clearly not going to turn down such a high profile non-playing role. Sometimes it works and others it doesn't. Just annoyed at high profile players still living off their name somewhat in a completely different role with little to no build up of an off-field career.

Errrrmmm... didn't we give the managers job to a former player with limited coaching experience when the club was very much on life support? That worked out pretty well didn't it

With that in mind, why not give Arteta the job rather than a foreign name from abroad with no history with the club at all.

According to the Guardian Gold wanted Moyes to stay and told him so but Sullivan wanted more options without ruling Moyes out. Sullivan met Fonseca last week which he, Sullivan, thought went well. Fonseca meanwhile was reportedly just using the meeting to get a better deal from Shaktar. Whether that is true or not, Fonseca has turned West Ham down and is staying in his present job and Moyes has walked because he reportedly felt he deserved better than being told "we'll give you the job if we can't find anyone better". Meanwhile Sullivan has promised a new manager within two weeks and Brady says that the problems with the stadium are down to the lease and "keyboard warriors."

Why would anyone with other options want to manage that mess?

....Rafa would be mad to take a job there!...Newcastle are a bigger club and will be taken over one day by someone with ambition to project them on to greater things. West Ham seem to have a rotten core that will eventually destroy them!

Interesting article in the Newcastle Chronicle on West Ham’s reported interest.

Seems Benitez and his representatives are still negotiating with what has been offered to him up there. This para below is interesting, will Ashley back him? If not will he be off? Not all cut and dried by the looks of it.

The Spaniard is not interested in another relegation battle and a tight 10th-placed finish next season; he is not interested in mid-table mediocrity, either. Benitez wants to be able to construct a competitive squad which can challenge for European qualification and a domestic trophy.

As well as negotiating a potential extension, other topics being discussed with the club are the transfer budget which will be made available this summer, and also whether Newcastle will finally provide the upgrades to the Academy, Under-23 set up and training ground the Spaniard asked them to at least 12 months previously.

Then there is this from the story.

Earlier this week, after David Moyes’ exit from the London Stadium was confirmed, Hammers co-owner David Sullivan stressed: “We aim to appoint a high-calibre figure who we feel will lead the club into an exciting future for our loyal supporters within the next 10 days.”

A similar sentiment was shared three summers ago - when Sullivan claims Benitez was “two hours” from joining West Ham, before Real Madrid made a last-minute move for his services.

No doubt Sullivan realises that he has to be seen to be attempting to lure one of England’s most sought-after managers to the capital, even if ultimately his advances may prove unsuccessful.

And, clearly, it is in Benitez’s interests to woo West Ham; it gives the Spaniard leverage in talks with Newcastle, while it gives him a viable out should the Magpies fail to deliver what he believes is necessary.

It is understood that Benitez retains an excellent rapport with the Hammers hierarchy; and, when rumours first surfaced linking him to the east London club during the Championship campaign, the Spaniard was careful not to comment publicly to ensure he did not alienate a potential future employer.

For that reason, this potential link has to be taken seriously - even if there are caveats.

Why would Everton think they 'are Chelsea in diguise' ? They have their own massive identity.! Huge club in terms of history and fanbase!! In the sixties were the richest club in Britain, as we're Sunderland before that! Chelsea are mere minnows in comparison. It's only the biased London press that swings young minds towards Chelsea, Arsenal. and Spurs, plus a weird obsession with the Dunghampers at Old Trafford.
