Non - Steve Cooper

Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to sign a two-and-a-half year deal to become the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have today confirmed the departure of Steve Cooper as head coach. And former Wolves and Tottenham boss Nuno is understood to be set to hold talks with the club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis.

TalkSPORT report Nuno will put pen to paper on a deal at the City Ground until 2026 and will take charge of his first match when Forest face Bournemouth on home soil in the Premier League on Saturday.

Coopers sacking is bad news for us. This will mean that Forest will raise their game to impress the new manager of whom will no doubt be watching the game.
Maybe, but I think the players tried for Cooper in the last match and would have tried just as hard against us. I guess we just go in as normal. They are likely to play defensively and hit us on the break. They will also try to exploit us from set pieces, the way most teams do.

Or they will be disillusioned at losing the manager that signed them and be planning their exit from Florist. No one knows - even you.
Also possible. In theory, they should be professional about it but doesn't always happen.

I would imagine a large part of Cooper is relieved. He gets to enjoy Christmas with his head held high, knowing he's free of the owner and also knowing that very good offers are going to come his way.

Steve Cooper has today been relieved of his duties as head coach of Nottingham Forest, following a spell of over two years in charge.

Cooper departs The City Ground having played an integral part in Forest’s return to the Premier League, cementing himself firmly into the Club’s rich history after guiding The Reds back into England’s top-flight.

Appointed as head coach in September 2021, Steve galvanised Forest’s extraordinary rise up the Championship table and into the play-offs, culminating in a memorable win over Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium in May 2022. He then went on to manage the team for 55 matches in the Premier League.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis said: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest would like to thank Steve for his superb contribution to our football club. His achievement in guiding Forest back to the Premier League will undoubtedly remain an iconic moment in the Club’s history.

“We thank Steve for his dedication and commitment during his time with us, as well as the incredible connection he forged with our supporters and the city of Nottingham.

“Steve will always remain a friend of the Club and will forever be welcome at The City Ground. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The Club will make a further announcement on the appointment of a new head coach in due course.

'relieved' being the key word.

The fans won't warm to Nuno I don't think. He's very defensive.
Think cooper always builds a defensive set up - remember Swansea sitting so deep against us at home back in 2020/21 to get a 0-0 draw.

Of course, we were denied a blatant penalty when brooks was fouled. Not much changes
