After 12 days of competition and with just 6 to go, team GB still await their first medal. They could be heading for a world record, just not the one they want.
 
I don't really watch it, but that Jamaican (?) guy cruising down the slalom course made me smile. There's faster people on the dry slope at Hurn!
 
The Winter Olympics is better entertainment than either Football or the Summer Olympics by far...and rivals the Paralympics !

I always watch the olympics, summer or winter, but decided to "boycott" this one because China...Yeah what difference will it make to anything? Not much tbh. Considering doing the same for the WC.

Saying all that, I mean which countries human rights are perfect anyway?

could be the first time we return home from a Winter Olympics without a medal since 1992.

Do the national lottery fund the Winter Olympics too? They heavily invest in our summer teams that’s why we are so much more successful then a couple of decades ago.

I went a watched a top pro ice hockey game in the USA a few years back. Never been so bored in my life. It's not so much the actual sport as when play manage to continue for a few minutes without a break for time outs, ads, other stoppages etc it was quite exciting and could appreciate the skill. It's just the stop start and every break is an excuse for the crowd to buy another hot dog. We left early and retired to the local pub and watched the last 15 mins on the TV where the breaks are filled by re runs and analysis of the game.

Ice Hockey is awesome I think that would be my sport if I was born North American or Scandy.

As for the Olympics....

The Russian team who are still competing despite being done for drugs have already been busted for banned substances.

And what can you say about the Chinese?

Remember seeing these sort of matches televised live on BBC years ago, really enjoying to watch as well.
 
Another morning of disappointment.
So I wrote a poem.

I wake up every morning, and check the medal haul.
And in the British column as usual, zero, zip, f**k all.
These aren't proper athletes, that we all must know.
Just a bunch of useless yuppies, who piss around in snow.
So don't waste lottery money, it's making us all sick.
Pay for your own winter holiday, you useless bunch of pricks.

I have never been able to give a toss about the Winter Olympics. For me the Summer Olympic Games are all I could ever manage to get remotely interested in.

Watching some Tarquin come nearly last every time, knowing that he probably then simply returns to his chalet thinking "Well I tried" before doing another line or three and getting hammered with his teammates just doesn't do it for me.

We might get a medal in Curling but that is it .
Definitely not one to watch if you want British success ( yes they are funded by the lottery )

Most of the competitors seem to be average age 18 in the fancy skiing events which makes me feel old !

No doubt most of the Russians who win will be caught in a few years doping .
