Paul Tierney

The current group of refs receive massive flack. Are they the worst bunch ever or are they at the mercy of the mass cameras and the replays that the pundits endlessly pour over?

Are they the worst bunch ever

The standard isnt improving anytime soon while the pgmol keep running their self interest closed shop. Very rarely do the officials work well as a team.

5 years later and this might as well get a bump.

Thought he was awful, sure the Lewis Cook sending off will be the big talking point which he got right. But there was so much more he didn’t. Like the bottled bookable offence for the Wolves defender.

Stood there at full time uncomfortably waiting for people to come and shake his hand… barely anyone came from either side. Think the three closest afcb players shook his hand along with Andoni, but that was it. Eventually he gave up and walked off.

I know we wouldn't have done anything with it, but we had a free kick right at the end of the game and with the clock just rolling onto the 6th minute of stoppage time, he blew his whistle immediately rather than giving us a chance to take the kick - despite him halting play on a couple of occassions during the added on time and pointing to his watch indicating he was stopping it.....where did that time go then?

Because he realised he would have to give a second yellow so changed his mind
I just don't buy that. He gave a red card to us (rightly so the consensus seems to be.) Why would any ref shy away from giving an obvious yellow just because one had previously been given to that player? If a yellow card is warranted then it is warranted and if that results in it being the second yellow shown then that's on the player not the ref. No I think he was simply biased against us.

Tierney has issued 3 red cards so far this season, two were second yellows.

Bassey for Fulham away against Arsenal in the 83rd minute.

The other one was Niakhaté at home for Nottingham Forest in the 56th minute, so he wasn’t afraid to do it then.

Tierney issued 8 yellows and 1 red yesterday, 6 yellows against Wolves.

This was his highest tally of 28 yellows in his 5 PL games this season.

Sh*te again yesterday.

Bottled the second yellow for their blokes foul on Tav just before Cook's red.

Even more embarrassing, after that incident involving Tavernier he let Wolves take the free kick nigh on by the halfway line, when the 'supposed' foul was nearer the corner flag by the North stand.
