Play offs

Have to say the play offs are a great way to end the season...looks a top day out at Wembley in the sunshine today and the League Two sides are putting on a decent show IMO

For me the play offs have consisted of shît refs giving terrible penalty decisions.
Nobody wants the PLs VAR but nobody wants crucial games decided by decisions like that. All yesterday's playoff game will be remembered for in years to come is how awful Bobby Madley was. Its as old as the hills, but how do we make refs less sh*t?

How about we go and look at how different countries are training their refs, and why they are getting better outcomes than we do ?

In this, as in many other areas of life, we have much to learn from our Continental friends.

well, as luck would have it, we have the answer quite literally (as the kids say) in our midst! get jimandnina to lead a crack team to immediately disband the PGMOL, & have all members past & present immediately, & quite painfully, euthanised. then recruit refs from more tolerant, better educated cultures (ie foreign) where refs appear to be given a more positive development culture, with less screaming, mental parents on the touchlines looking after their "babies" & not giving a rats **************** about anything, or anyone, else as their jimmy is lovely, & "wouldn't do that".

etc

TBH I reckon in real time any ref would have given a foul at least.

Like any player would throw himself in the area to make sure he gets a penalty.

If that is Harry Kane in the Euros we are all screaming for something.

Then bemoaning VAR when it rules out a penalty and saying it’s ruining the game.

The worse decision was a lack of penalty to Newport for the Morecambe goalie taking out the attacker .

Now that was clear cut .

He was sacked once but allowed back in after a while wasn’t he?

One thing VAR would have done is spotted any foul started outside the area which is what it should be used for as that isn’t subjective.

Not football, but recent events ’paint a different picture’.

Well in that case the rules for how they judge offside are too harsh atm.

But those in charge will probably say it’s consistent in ruling out goals for such minor offsides.
Too harsh? Should they be slightly harsh, a little bit harsh, what degree of black and white do you want?

Watch Wimbledon this Summer and ask if it's harsh when Cyclops says is nano millimetre out if it's too harsh or simply just out.

Maybe abandon goal line technology.

If you want something subjective then Like it or not technology improves almost every thing we do, in life.

So you feel VAR is used correctly/fairly in terms of offsides anddoesn’t need to be altered?

Fair enough and I guess you can never get perfection.

Suppose they will say it’s being consistent .

Just a lot (almost everyone ) say it’s disallowing goals too much and harshly ruling out goals for toe and finger nails being offside.

GLT technology is fine except for that one time we all know about !

Didn’t see the game yesterday, but going back to our play-off game and that penalty, do you think the Brentford manager would have been happy to have VAR decide the Kelly handball which the pundits said was harsh?

VAR could have disallowed the penalty and changed the course of the game.

Brentford manager wanted VAR for the play-offs, but JW didn’t.

Would you have preferred VAR for all the play-off games or referee decision?
