So, Ryan Christie. Been a big fan since he came back to Celtic from his loan at Aberdeen. He's a player that divided opinion up here latterly but looking back on his time in Glasgow I'd say that was due to coaching was/wasn't getting. Under Brendan Rodger$ (not a typo) he was great for us, could play either wing but was most effective bursting through the middle. There was a real bond between Christie and the manager in that period and the results of that can been seen in his stats. Then came Neil Lennon - who is not a coach, is not renowned for his man-management skills, who destroyed the culture that Rodger$ and his team had instilled and took Celtic's coaching style back to the 1990's. Christie's form plummeted last year as did just about everyone in the team as Lennon dragged us down to our lowest level for ten years. If Scott Parker can make Christie feel that he's wanted, that he's valued and plays him consistently in a settled position then you'll have a gem on your hands. But he needs coached, needs to work on his crossing and get rid of the idea that he's got a shot like Messi (another Lennon inspired notion). I've no gripes with him leaving Celtic - he'll double his wages and who wouldn't want that? Best of luck to him and to you guys in the Championship this year. Hope you get promoted.
I've had a few looks on a Celtic forum, how big the forum is I have no idea (Kerrydale Street) and he is truly somebody who divides opinion, a true Marmite chap. I can understand the view there he is dropping his standards coming to us and leaving the SPL and Euro footy, although that never seems to last long (sorry!) . Pretty much what you have said is what I read, so thank you. I would suggest some of the vitriol thrown at him will probably be due to him leaving a big club and joining little old AFCB. Having said that we do have lovely beaches. All the best and cheers. So, Ryan Christie. Been a big fan since he came back to Celtic from his loan at Aberdeen. Great to hear. We've needed a CB who's not a sissy since Virgil van Dyke leftEnjoy CCV, a very good player who didn't put a foot wrong here last season.

Without opening up old wounds re our old manager who it seems was to replace Lennon, how has the new man in charge been received by the fans?
Might want to open that particular can of worms on this thread…

Blimey, a Scottish International, can't remember the last one we had!
I follow Celtic as my family are Irish and that is who they support. I have to say Christie has been woeful for them for the passed two seasons. I don't really think he will be hard to replace as he couldn't get a game in the middle for them anyway, he was often pushed out on the left. McCann from St Johnstone would have been a better signing in my opinion, he has really impressed me everytime I have seen him and done really well in the Europa qualifiers.
Seems like everybody (without exception) rates him. He talks a good game, plays an attacking style of football, which we love, and isn't afraid to admit his mistakes. Losing our first league game due to "honest" refereeing mistakes, and our latest one doesn't seem to have put people off. He's got a lot of leeway after last season. I'll put a lid on the worm can [Edit] And he puts the press on their arses regularly, which is great.Seeing some video of Ryan Christie, it seems he can shoot with either foot, but it looks like he prefers his left and has quite a powerful and accurate shot.
Mention of CCV, he is your gain and our loss as our club tried to sign him without success.
A very reliable solid centre half.

TBF he could play well on either wing but always wanted come central. Rodgers coached him and played him to his strengths - Lennon not so much. It'll interesting to see where Parker plays him and how he coaches him. On his day he can be a game changer.Maybe he was woeful because he was pushed out to the left?
