Agree with the award even if perhaps DeBruyne was unlucky not to get it --but why oh why did Salah when stating his reasons for donations to promoting football in his homelands did he have to mention religion! Football is Football - nothing to do with religion!

Salah and De Bruyne both great players.

Salah the scorer and De Bruyne the playmaker.

Salah gets it for his goals and some really good ones as well.

But De Bruyne is a special player as well.

Just interviewing Jurgen Klopp on Channel 4 now and talking about Salah amongst other things.

Both Salah and De Bruyne were at Chelsea when in their early 20’s and didn’t make it.

Two fantastic players - watching De Bruyne live is something special - his ability to find space , passing , vision etc - another level .

But, why shouldn't he mention it, plenty of other players do. Yossi Benayoun never used to play on a Saturday, Gavin Peacock thinks women are slaves and James McLean even promotes terrorism

At the end of the day his religion is important to him and it's not as if he's out there trying to convert people, but it has prompted him to commit very charitable acts both here and in his homeland

Blue Rizla paper between them, couldn't have argued had either won it

Isn’t it quite refreshing to find a footballer thinking about religion and making people’s lives better?

Or would you prefer him to be sat in a Lamborghini planning on who he and his mate were going to spitroast in a hotel room?

It's great that he is doing something positive to help those poor kids - it's just that religious conflicts in those regions has been part of their problems and his donation is going to help, from his football success - not religion!

Those conflicts were never about religion they were about money, land, and power, same as every other conflict ever. People only fight over sustenance, shelter, sex, and status, only things they ever will fight over

Do remember when Didier Drogba brought peace to his country after a civil war had been going for years?

Another professional footballer who did good by his people.

If not read this.

NEVER about religion- of course not, always other things and occasionally some people attach religion to issues and use it to gain power! ....whatever got in my head over the past 60 years to think it was religion in its own right causing uprisings. I must make an effort to re-read my history with some new interpretations.

Well put !
Well

Salah's nothing special.

He only scored one goal against us a couple of weeks ago.

Oh, and one in December.......................................

He's nothing but a slightly more mobile Steve Fletcher.

Exactly. If his bonce wasn't so big, that superb ball from the full back would never of landed on his head.
