Sponsored silence?

It is what is known as typical Bournemouth and the South in general. I recall attending a Darlington v Hartlepool encounter back in the early 90's. There was only 4k people in the ground yet it sounded like 20k such was the passion of a local derby and the football passion of the folk from the North East.

Bournemouth still suffers from the snobbery of the South West. I still recall the John Benson when the typical main stand supporter would be dressed in a pair of Rupert the Bear checked trousers, a silly polar necked sweater, a pair of Jesus sandels with an early edition the Bournemouth Echo stuffed under the arm. The only sound one would get out from this 'berke' would be - come on Bournemouth - every 20 minutes.

It seems that not much has changed.
What do you suggest the average Boscombe fans wear these days? You have previously stated that anyone wearing tracksuit bottoms and baseball caps are not the desirable type.

How about chinos, boat shoes and a nice cardi?

The fans did it for themselves.

Oh and I don't like the Great Escape, but it appears that many more do.

Don’t mind the Great Escape music from the film, but not today at Dean Court.

The tune would have been better when we had that Shrewsbury season under Mel Machin or the time when the Big Man scored that goal against Grimsby.

I don’t get the great escape in September or in December when we’re all on a confidence high.

But it’s being plumbed around the ground so I have two choices, sit in silence or stand up and join in. So I join in.

The last few home games the queue has been so slow that I've missed all of prematch.

Long may it carry on.

More copy and paste. You're an extremely odd man.

There is an inordinate amount of snobbery from a large part of this Forum.
Only certain clique members are able to get away with edgy stuff.
Others cannot speak their mind without getting it in the neck, virtually within less than 10 minutes.

It's bloody pathetic.

Was there a sponsored silence at Dean Court today that I hadn’t heard about?
So many in the NS who just sit on their hands and make no noise for the whole game.
It was actually embarrassing that the team are playing a blinder to almost total silence.
Well if the likes of you hadn't had a sponsored sit down in the North Stand since 2003 we might have got an atmosphere going.

I still don't get until this day why people who stood on the South End and the terrace at Dorchester sat down from day dot once the new ground opened. You don't even stand up when we get a corner. WTF is that all about!

I always find it quite amusing when you watch Bournemouth highlights that the crowd behind either goal is almost always completely sat down until the ball hits the back of the net, even when a corner or sustained period of pressure. Also whenever the camera pans to our crowd it's always people politely clapping along while sitting down.

Gary complains about the noise but isn't man enough to stir it up himself.

If it's so quiet around you Gary, surely you could do what Nonny did and start a one man chant that reverberates around the ground.

Yes or No......or is it easier to complain about others not doing it, when you're more than capable of doing it yourself?

Well why not. Why is is that people these day dress like they have just stepped off of a building site. I have travelled all over Europe in my time and we are the most scruffiest tatty looking nation when going out and socialising.

Oh dear - the trolls are stirring.
I would like to profoundly apologise that the lack of noise and standing in the North Stand is all my fault.
Jeez some people are stupid.

Strange you say that Steven. As you were seen outside the Bear Hotel in Devizes Sunday lunchtime dressed in your usual old mothercare security guard uniform.
It’s a good job that’s where you and your fellow security guard meet up for Xmas each year.
I suppose it’s also handy that you hold your south Hampshire Hillman Imp appreciation society Xmas party there each year on the same date. Especially as it is only you two who attend both.

Hard to get songs going sometimes. Easier when we are attacking or there's a robust tackle for example.

There are a few who keep going despite the apathy from most.

I always seem to end up hoarse and with my hands stinging.
