First Team
Steve was the safeguarding lead at the club for several years, he passed away recently aged 61 after an incredibly courageous battle with cancer. Huge thanks to all concerned at AFCB who, as part of a focus on safeguarding this week are marking Steve's life today. His family are guests of the club and (I think) his brother will be the fan's champion taking the match ball out.
Steve was a close family friend and a wonderful human being and many people from the club attended his funeral and the gathering afterwards which was at the ground.
I think the fan's champion idea is a great one and typical of all that is good about our club, it is always very well supported around the ground so a bit of extra context if you don't catch all the story over the tannoy today.
