I agreeI’m an advocate for 3 at the back for this one but one things for sure, he can’t go with the same line up as Sheffield United. Really like the idea of Solanke and H Wilson in behind CW, genuinely think we could pose them a threat with that line up while remaining solid. However we all know he will play Fraser and King behind Wilson again and that we’ll create nothing. They are both undroppable in Howe’s eyes, he’d rather put square pegs in round holes to accommodate his favourites and hope for the best than play players that actually suit the system. Would love to be proved wrong and sure I will get abuse thrown my way but it’s one of his greatest weaknesses as a manager.
Stating the obvious .I know they are a fantastic side but it's 4-3-3 for me. If we overload the midfield we will blunt our attack and if we overload our defence we get into our lads leaving it to another player to do their job. Why get all caught up in their tactics and formations? Let's just have a right go and see where it takes us.We may surprise ourselves and a few others.4-5-1 for me.
Ramsdale
Smith Cook Ake Daniels
Wilson Billing Surman Lerma Fraser
Solanke
Unlikely, but I would like to see Big Dom start a game and I think he could just help get the team ‘knock it around’ a bit more. Would also like to see how opposition cope against Wilson/King if they came on fresh legged with 20 to go.
Daniels gets the nod due to his chemistry with Fraser but Wee man will have to be up for a shift!
I said last week that players should dictate the formation rather than formations dictate to the players. There isn’t really any difference between 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 or 5-4-1 and 3-4-3 from a tactical viewpoint. It’s how the players interpret their roles which makes the differenceStating the obvious .I know they are a fantastic side but it's 4-3-3 for me. Oh no mate, you added an s on Billing, wait for allmouthred, sorry, monmouthred,to chastise youLerma and Billings manning a Vickers machine gun might work. Can't see any other formation working.
Short answer - no, you’re quite rightIs there really any chance that Callum Wilson, Fraser and King will be left out? That seems to me to be one of those moves that will get a coach crucified, even if it is a good idea.
Anything that happens in the match would have been different if only EH had put them in the lineup. I just don't see it being considered, but this will be my first season following this club while paying attention to this board, so might be wrong.
Loads of people are saying Billings! Only noticed this whilst holding some Youtube fan interviews after the last game (it probably won't last! - link below if interested). Don't think it'll overtake the amount of people who still struggle to say Stanislas though...!Oh no mate, you added an s on Billing, wait for allmouthred, sorry, monmouthred,to chastise you
