Of course it can be done - and increasingly, I'd say it has to be done. When we finally get our new stadium with much bigger attendances, better public transport links are an absolute must.
That may well be a condition of getting permission to expand, to reduce the environmental impact as much as possible. Can't suddenly have an extra 5000 cars descending on Dean Court every matchday - it's just not feasible.
Here in Sussex, BHA run buses from all over the county, and if you prefer to go by train, the fare is included in the match ticket price.

Reopening the old Boscombe station as a halt on matchdays would be ideal.
I live not far from Branksome station and would certainly get the train more if I only had to walk a couple of minutes to the ground.
Not sure if it's possible logistically though.

Plus traffic police that used sense to over-rule traffic lights and give way restrictions to keep cars flowing.I'd forgotten about the great transport links to Dean Court at that time.
