Watering

No it hasn't been answered. If it is wet anyway there is no point adding more water. You can't make a well drained pitch any wetter than completely wet!
Thats not quite true is it. Obviously there are degress of wetness. A pitch won't necessarily drain dry as soon as it gets wet, hence watering the pitch nearer kick off.

And he's had that answer before.

Yes degrees of wetness Rob, how wet does it need to be? Waterlogged?

We can monitor this Wet Situation ..on Wednesday versus Luton....and see if any lessons have been learnt....I severely doubt it...
...something Doh will rock up..something Tinpot I daresay...but ..but then that's who we are ...Aunt Sally Boscombe !

Re the penalty, some teams now 'guard' the spot if one has been given. Did anyone notice any shenanigans?

The blades of grass/plastic will dry pretty quickly but are ideally wet.

The rest of the water is drained instantly to the point it's probably impossible to waterlog with the sprinkler system. If it was waterlogged you'd see pooling of water which you don't.

So you apply water to the grass until you play, the blades will only get so wet and all excess will drain away. Over the next hour or so from kick off they'll dry so you water again.

Obviousky not.

If yiu Google around some people even go into physics of how ball travels differently over different lengths and grass and wetness versus dry pitch.

Becomes very apparent why (certain) teams wet grass like they do... basically it generally benefits style of play of the the home team. A technically gifted team tgat want to keep tge ball on the deck, abd zip it around with little bounce want shorter grass and a damp/wet pitch. Not to the degree it's boggy as that spoils tgat style of play and hinders it.

I can't recall us using sprinklers to the extent its made the pitch waterlogged/boggy. Can you?

In the opposite way, it's been known for lower division/mon league ckubs to allow grass to grow (and lijeky not water it.) To stifle superior, technical teams from playing at their best. Ie slow the ball down, create friction as its moved arkund the pitch.
