Well, I was about to post that if we win today you know Surman and Gosling will keep their place as Eddie seldom changes a winning team.

If there's a silver lining, at least we should see Cook return next week as things stand.

Doesn't stop it being an utterly bafflingly ridiculous team selection, though.
 
Brooks has already played a couple of the passes which Defoe was crying out for last season. Hope he continues to be brave like that and doesn’t start playing safety first. Playing without fear so far the lad.
 
It's been relatively end - to - end. We're doing well going up but just unlucky with chances. Our defending could be better but Smith is doing well.
Gosling has been playing awfully and gave away 4 fouls in 15 minutes. He has given the ball away numerous times too. He needs to be replaced by Cook - him and Surman have a good partnership imo. With Cook on the pitch we'll have a better chance of scoring. Get a three man midfield with Cook, Surman and Brooks and we'll be fine.
 
Only real attack is when brooks moves into the middle. Gosling and surman are great versus championship sides. West ham is a premier side. We need cook in for one of them and start owning the mid.

It really isn't difficult to know why Eddie chose this team, is it. We won against Marseille with it, we won against Cardiff with it, he is simply going with a line-up that has won two on the bounce. Whether we all agree with him or not is another matter, this is what he is doing.

In theory, it's the right thing to do, as it tells those starting they have earned their place....but they will also know full well that there are some very good players waiting to step in. I am fairly sure that over the season, Lewis start more than he's on the bench.

Rubbish comment. Both players have proven themselves against plenty of PL teams up until now across three seasons. They may well not be the best midfield players we have but a bit pants to suggest they are not able to play in this league now.
