Lewis Cook

Totally logically correct.

These forums are based on conjecture though. The most oft debated subject on fans forums are selections followed by tactics.

If every selection debate is followed by someone as sensible as you saying it must be something happening in training (which it probably is) then there is no comeback to this. We shouldn’t therefore debate selection. The next time someone asks why Franno is starting in front of someone the answer is ‘because Eddie judged him to be better in training and attitude this week’

It assumes managers never get it wrong. Eddie might get it wrong less than most but even he will have made selection errors. I like the debate of it...but you are right...only one man knows the truth.
In a recent interview Eddie said his son now knows all the players and tries to tell him who he should have played after the games. So even if EH doesn't read this forum, he's not even safe from uninformed opinions in his own home!

Indeed, after a prolonged period on the sidelines, after a year without a break due to England commitments over the summer, Lewis Cook magically came back looking fresh and impressed almost like he had benefited from concentrating on his fitness training.

Made Eddie Howe look silly.

You might want to put that slant on it DJ, personally I don't think Eddie always gets it quite right.

Now Lewis has been told prove yourself in one match. I just wish all our squad were put under that same pressure and scrutiny.

This is DJ though. If Eddie Howe slept with DJs partner he would follow him down the stairs and ask him if he wanted a cup of tea...:)

We are now all going to judge Cook on tonight’s game...where he will play in an unsettled team of eleven changes.

Think back to games v Wigan or Millwall in recent seasons. How bad everyone looked. How good they looked when put back into a settled first team though...

It’s s shame we are not nurturing top talent.

He's got to play well to get in the team. No favours. Why is he any different to anyone else? It's crazy this.

We as supporters may be judging him on tonight’s match. I’m fairly certain Eddie won’t be judging him purely on tonight. It will be a combination of factors of which tonight’s game will be just one.

Agreed but then by stating in the media that its a big game for Lewis isn't that heaping pressure on him?
Surely its just as big for Lys, Tyrone, etc?

Looking back to the stats for the Burnley game, Burnley had 12 shots of which 5 were on target and they put 4 past us.

AFCB had 19 shots with 5 on target with no goals. We had 62% possession.

I know Eddie likes to give players a game who are normally on the bench. But maybe one or two of our strikers from the Burnley game could do with a run out to get their shooting boots back on.

It’s a difficult one because Lys Mousset and Jermain Defoe need game time.

Perhaps Lewis needs to look square or back to up his pass completion so that he can be in contention. This philosophy seems to work for Surman,

I take it you didn't watch the game against Burnley? Anyone saying he only passes sideways after that is clearly bias and will never change their mind. It's impossible you come away from that game thinking he only passes sideways, all I remember is forward passes into our strikers or wingers.

Please give us some stats to back up Cook playing right now instead of Surman, we've given you pass completion statistics and you're all just shouting a little bit louder. Are you going to stamp your feet next? 9 pages with no stats.

Thing is for example Mings can play as well as he likes, score 2 or 3, keep a clean sheet, he man of the match and he still wouldn’t get in the league team. It’s just a one off game for a few of the players tonight regardless of performance.

It's a fair point. My opinion on Mings is that he's looked quite good in patches but I personally would never have picked him ahead of Ake and Cook for the left CB spot.

This is ND though. Take one example of where he thinks we are not nurturing top talent and twist into a blanket approach of Eddies strategy.
