Diego Rico

This.

Said so at the time; didn't help that he was attracting the ball like a bloody magnet.

Had we used all our subs or was he just being dumb and played on?

Dont think so KBG, looked to me like he kept signalling the bench to come off, eventually I thought he'd run it off to be fair but obviously not

It happened just after our third sub.
I watched him suffer every time the ball came near him and he had to sprint to get to it. None of the team seemed to know he was injured. It was excruciating to watch. I really felt for him.

A really bad time for him to get injured. These 5 games would have been ideal to have a run in the team and prove to himself more than anything he’s capable of playing at this level.

A dilemma for Eddie too now. It’s not ideal to start next season with an unproven LB. Nor is signing yet another expensive LB who might also take time to adjust.

If it's a 6 week injury then that's Rico done for the season now.
This gives him an extended summer break, to a) get himself fully fit and recovered from this, and b) sort his head out, as it seems he's struggled to settle here this season.

With Daniels missing the start of next season, and being generally in a decline, we ideally need Rico to make it work here.

He obviously has some talent in his left boot, and we saw he can work hard when he ran through this injury to become one of our few players who gave a crap on Saturday. His trouble is positioning, communication and understanding what is going on around him, it's why he looks a bit like a headless chicken.

Rico has from now until reporting back for training mid July to get himself fit, in the right frame of mind, perhaps with improved English, to smash it next season.

He isn’t the only one who struggles to understand what’s going on around him !
Hope he can get himself fit and on form - there is a very decent player in there somewhere.

They’re right to pursue him and should never give up imo. Very, very good player but would sell for what we bought him for
If true this has probably been pushed along by our signing another left back . Even if we are being told he will be a central defender eventually.

he had to change a lot last season, I'd like to see what he can offer going into pre-season and hopefully the new season. He's bulked out a bit compared to when he joined us and I'd hate to see him just leave a much better than he joined without seeing any benefit. If he genuinely is homesick or whatever then fair enough, but I've found that success often put my homesickness to bed for a while when away

Let them have him................they can pay us whatever they think is fair.......anything at all......no rush....whenever they like.

Sell now. Doesn't matter whether it's more or less than we paid.

I feel for him but I can't see him as a PL player.

I'd move him on, although I doubt we will as Charlie is likely to still be injured come the start of the season.

I’ve said it time and time again. To the point it becomes annoying.

9 months in a foreign country, not able to speak the language, not being able to communicate with team mates, often playing out of position when in and out of the team and then injured for 3 months does not mean we should ship him out at the first opportunity. Anyone who thinks we should is wrong.

Daniels will be a bit part player next season with Kelly and Rico competing for the LB position.
