VAR

And because it’s a new “law” it can’t be a shambles?

Great.

Personally I don’t want to see goals disallowed because the ball grazes someone’s arm hair.
If the ref had spotted it would you have been ok with the goal being disallowed? Not sure if you don't like the fact VAR spotted it or the rule.

Both.

But the fact that VAR gets involved makes it a heck of a lot worse because it searches for things the naked eye would never have spotted in real time. It takes time, saps energy away from the spectacle and is basically pure and simple, garbage.

You think that example enhances the game?

Offside should be calculated the same way as goalline tech. Use a tone in the refs ear, or a lamp somewhere, Whenever a player is in an offside position (no worries about phases, or interfering with play, simply on the pitch and closer to the opposition goal than two defenders and the ball) then the ref has a tone in his ear, he uses the presence of this tone along with his judgement about when the ball was played and whether the player was interfering with play, as those parts are subjective

Let the subjective stuff stay subjective, of course use tech for the objective stuff, that makes complete sense

Can’t convince me it’s bad. Having the top 5-6 teams win without even trying because they get every call or non call was destroying the league (at least to Americans who expect even playing fields).

Now all the experts will say that it was a handball because, the law that has rather conveniently been changed to coincide with VAR coming in, says so. Well the law is an ass to put it mildly. And so are those that agree with it.
When you have a goal like the Wolves one where absolutely no one in the stadium, managers, players, ref, lino's, crowd on both sides thinks it is anything other than a goal then it is a goal. But oh no some brain dead official sat in front of a screen 200 miles away can change all that after looking at his screen for 2 minutes he can change the game because the law is an ass.
I am as biased an AFCB supporter as you can get but frankly I would be embarrassed if we "got away" with one like that.

"The most crucial part of supporting - celebrating a goal - has now been numbed, neutered and removed from PL matches by TV. This ******* mantra about 'the correct decision' is media driven desk-bound bloodless balls. "

Danny Baker

agree, but not sure I'd blame tv. I'd blame modern day whingy "footy" supporters. this has come from people not respecting & understanding refereeing.

"We had a good handball shout not given"

Your player should of been booked for telling the ref to look at VAR.
Sharp should of been booked too for jumping into the crowd after he scored. Sterling received his second yellow and was sent off for exactly the same thing.

I was surprised he didn't get booked for dissent but then refs rarely do apply the rule .

If they did the likes of Rooney and Young would have played about a 3rd of the games they did due to being banned !

It was a definite hands on ball but his hands were on his chest, so not given. Maybe the refs are confused with all the tech in their ears, but ranting and raving and asking him to look at var was over the top.

Wolves fans complaining online about a lack of consistency with Sheff Utd's equaliser on Saturday, which appears to ricochet off an attacking arm in the build up, and was little different to their own 'goal' v Leicester that got disallowed for a marginal handball via a convoluted combination of the new handball rules and a VAR goal-check.

Ron Clapp, blimey thats a blast from the past from Sunday parks football. Remember when his toupee blew off in the wind one game and everyone rushed after it trying to kick it in the net.

I thought that in the immediate aftermath, but the replay didn't show it too well, so assumed it was wishful thinking on my part. When I've got my cherry-specs on I can be the most one eyed man on the planet
