How good was L Cook?

redskins

First Team
I only managed a listen today driving up through France but sounded as though he really linked the play through the centre of the pitch. Brave enough to turn and jink with the vision to open the play......or at least this is what I was imagining ! .
Can anyone confirm my hopes?

He was excellent. Ran with the ball, shrugged off challenges, passed it. I thought he was better than anyone could have wished for.

I know. It’s funny how quick people are to dig out old threads sometimes but not when they were wrong!

A few ‘usual suspects’ on here not rating Cook at all. Maybe they will dig the thread out. Don’t hold your breath!!

Who didn't rate him ? Apologies but I've just come from a fawning match day thread after reading last night that we were shite and Delia and some German bloke were a match made in Canary heaven.

Football fans are fickle....

He was very good. Energetic, aggressive and inventive. Got caught out on occasion but added a spark we have been missing.

During a gap in play in the second half he went back and had a long chat with Ramsdale, I think re distribution. Suggests he is a bit of a thinker about the game as well.

Very impressive return.

I don’t really remember many saying they didn’t rate him? Just a few saying to not expect him to be the new Iniesta within a few weeks of playing... 2 years ago after being played to the bone for club and country following an injury...

...he came pretty close today. That first half an hour in particular was sensational.

A couple of posters said they can't see the hype around him,on more than a few occasions,im not naming them,as like redhouse says the football fan is a fickle breed

Fawning? Or just reflective of the performance. Play well get a good write up, I’ve never been any different.

Your last sentence is brilliant though!

My point being he showed some of his potential in previous games, but to come back like he played today, well I'm a big fan of his,but that was awesome

I've been critical of him at times because of exactly this. Not even critical really but I think Lewis should be aiming for the absolute top of the game and to do that he has to take games by the scruff of the neck and drive the team on to victory - I think we all know how good he can be. It's absolutely brilliant that he came straight back after so long out and put in a performance that ticks all the boxes.

Central midfield is starting to look like our strongest area now.
