AFC Bournemouth v Wolves

According to Eddie the application and tactics weren’t right in first half.
No surprise there. He also said Solanke picked up a hamstring problem in the warm up.
That leaves us seriously short of striker options ,just Wilson left?

Players always devoid of responsibility it seems.

Howe at fault for the non league defending for their second?

No but he’s at fault for the generally substandard quality of the play for the entire half. I’m not one of the ones who’s been having a go at him the entire international break so not sure why you’re quoting me?

These players have shown time and time again that playing that system is beyond their capabilities, yes that is 100% Eddie’s fault for not being able to see that. The defending for the second is on the players but the overall blame lies on Eddie today I’m afraid.

I quoted you because you didn’t blame the players at ALL. I don’t take notes on people’s overall views I’m afraid :)

I was pointing out that the players should shoulder some responsibility.

Franno was stupid for diving in, he was never going to win the ball. That booking ultimately led to his dismissal. Other than selecting him how can he not be blamed?

For the second how can the entire left flank not be blamed when they were clearly at fault?
That’s absolutely nothing to do with team selection or system.

Neither is the players being lackadaisical in possession, lacking tempo, lacking the press.

All of those things changed in the second half and it wasn’t down to playing 4-4-1. It was down to them eventually finding some professional pride.

I don’t agree with the formation, I’m not arguing the case for it. I just don’t see why some of these more senior very well paid players don’t get held to account and blame gets placed elsewhere. When the actual goals should have been avoided regardless of if we were playing 6 up front or 9 midfield.

Not heard the interview yet but saw a couple of things from Eddie on Twitter. Well done to Jordan Clark for asking a probing question, something other radio people shy away from in the past - why did he choose Franno over Mepham - answer, any right sided defender in a back three needs to be able to play right back too. [ I thought Mepham had experience down that side?? ]. Also, asked if he would do things differently if he had the game again, he said yes. That is admitting he got things wrong.

More and more clear how vital Jeff is. Without him our midfield is really poor. Right now Lewis Cook is no more a PL player than Franno

All you could hear the Wolves fans singing in the first half was Bournemouth always cheating etc, what a boring lot they are.

The other thing they were singing something to the tune of Eddie coming home etc. Who was the first club to come up with that?

The players should be capable of playing that system. There are only a few who would have little experience of it, Fraser for example.

It should have offered more support considering Wolves pace particularly down the right.

King and Solanke weren’t match fit, Lerma back from international duty. Gosling only just returning. You can see why he picked a central two in midfield and one upfront.

His only other option from the start could have been Fraser as the 10 with Danjuma on the wing in a 4-4-1-1?

If that team had started with the tempo and gusto of the second half and didn’t make the errors, I think many of us would have been far happier leaving the ground. Even if it was the same result.

Danjuma looks like a number 10 to me but so does Brooks. Eddie can't seem to see beyond wingers.

I disagree, the players we have aren’t suited to this system at all. The back three don’t know who to pick up and we look vulnerable in the spaces in behind the wing backs. Fraser is purely a winger and playing him more centrally completely nullifies him. Wilson becomes completely isolated. The only player we have who was really suited to playing in this way is H Wilson and he is wildly inconsistent and unfortunately was not on it today. I’d have had more sympathy for Eddie if he’d have started Stacey and Smith as wing backs and Danjuma in place of Fraser, that would have rectified some of the issues by playing players with the attributes required for the roles asked of them. But playing Franno in a back three still? There is absolutely no way you can justify that injuries or not.

Lerma should have played from the start. If he tired take him off.
Frannos second yellow seemed a bit odd. Took the ref ages to even think about it after much prompting from a Wolves player. Did VAR play any part as he seemed to be using his ear piece.
I really struggled to work out what system we were supposed to be playing in the first half.
Oh, and change the song to Lewis Cook always gives the ball away.

Certainly thought at the time it was a VAR assist for the red.

From my view I didn’t think he was going to give a second yellow and then the Wolves player was it number 8 said something? It could be that it was something said in his earpiece that changed his mind after they did a VAR check.

If it was due to the player, that’s something I don’t like to see from one pro to another in football.

I didn't see the game but I saw a lot of quotes on Twitter from our fans saying how easy their players were going over?

No more so than anyone else. They also didn’t time waste like others. Sure they game managed in the final 10. But I had little complaints
