Non - Pandemic

Assuming this thing is brought "under control" - whatever that means. At what stage will it become another seasonal type disease that we just live with. Does it depend on a vaccine ? Will we be happily playing football and going about our business next year saying stuff like "Steve Cooks out this week with Corona but Mepham is taking his place in the back 4 for the away trip to a sold out Anfield"

We're bound to have the most out 'with corona' as we have so called crappy, inexperience back room staff. Everyone else will have world leaders on the subject and there will be threads on why we haven't recruited Dr sanchez Gonzales with a million letters after his name . I understand Fletch is doing a course on it now.
 
Have any other old gits like me thought enviously of how lucky the kids are being told NOT to go to school and NOT to do any exams. !!!
God we would have been leaping up and down with joy before sprinting for the exit door and then down the rec to play footaball.

Fear is the mind killer and the wronguns in this world are opportunists and will soon start the law of the jungle if this mindless hysteria is not stopped by the media and those taking every word as gospel.

"Played your whole life!"? You don't even know what you mean by that. As for your warnings, you haven't ever suggested anything rational, just slag off those you feel aren't as good as yourself!

I think its clear from your little rant that you're the one with an ego problem. Presumably believing that your means are somehow better than others. You expose yourself as a particularly nasty piece of work and one thats more than a little cowardly.

And like Def, no-ones foaming, just giving you the chance to show what a fool you really are. To be fair though you're doing a great job.

Oh and thanks for your charitable efforts, I don't think my life would be any safer if you abandoned us hopeless people on Vitals and phucked off.

As for the recruitment strategy, ours will continue to be poor. Eddie will only sign players yet to contract and subsequently be immune to the virus, so every new signing will inevitably suffer an extended period out/isolated
 
Much paranoia surrounding the question of kids/students and their exams....they can still learn and revise at home...online sources can facilitate that....they have their books and notes too....the exams can take place at a later date.
My old Mum at 95 is quite amused....she spent her teenage years working with bullets, bombs and other devices. One exploded killing 7 of her friends.

I was walking the dogs near our local primary when they must've been given the good news - you could've heard the cheering a mile away. One small boy in particular sounded very, very, pleased!
 
You have to be pretty old to remember the black and white TV series The Twilight Zone. There was an episode called The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street. There are no links that I can provide from this end, because CBS has the rights and have blocked it. 1960. If you can find it, spend the 25 minutes to watch it, it is a great treatise on how easily paranoia can take root.

There are a couple of modernized versions that I can find on youtube, but they are nowhere near as frightening as the original.

Not a lot different from what we just heard in the UK.

In fact we are closing and they are restricting opening times, though they now say closing restaurants.

What our government has done today makes a lot of sense, even if some won’t like it.

This outbreak threatens the health, wealth and social cohesion of the whole of Germany, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder warned earlier this week.

Germany’s very first cases emerged here and the state has one of the highest number of infections in the country.

Bavaria has, perhaps as a consequence, been at the forefront of efforts to contain it.

It was one of the first states to announce school closures and the first to impose restrictions on much of daily life which now apply across Germany. They include closing leisure and cultural facilities, restricting opening times of restaurants and asking people to stay at home.

On Friday, Mr Söder went further, closing restaurants and telling citizens they must stay in their homes unless they have a good reason to leave them - although he stopped short of announcing a complete lockdown.

Seen by some as a potential successor to Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr Söder has maintained a high profile during the outbreak. He’s helped by the fact that his is a rich state.

Within hours of announcing help for small businesses for example, people were able to apply for loans online.
