Joshua King

I'm sorry but you're deluded if you don't think he would be massive miss. Involved in near enough every attack and goal we score, of the 40 goals we scored last season he was involved in pretty much all of them apart from when that Saints keeper passed to Callum and Solanke goal against Leicester. He's a better player than Callum and one of the best to have worn the shirt.

Bang on Rezz...but.. ...but ...he is In Love with Ole GunnarSoulSuck....being Norwegian and all that Gush.

Josh ..One of our best ever sights on Dean Court viewing Going for Goal in our Humble Abode at DC...
However as History will point out....the Munich Air Crash changed Everything in Football....
THEY of Salford Control the World ...not even MC or Liverpool can do anything about it.!
Radio Five will Confirm. Savage will put Cream on it !

Why is it sensible? He’s contracted to the club, the players have returned to training, why is he exempt but players from Spain, Columbia, Ireland, Denmark etc are expected back big money moved lined up or not?
there's a nasty virus about. travelling is amongst the best ways to catch it.

We scored 7 goals in those 2 games and he was involved in none of them (bar maybe H Wilson at Southampton)

Well he missed the Leicester game due to injury didn't he so you can't really blame him for not being involved in those 4 goals. As for the Saints game you're correct he was involved in the Harry Wilson goal he had the killer pass to Billing who crossed it for Harry. He wasn't involved in the other 2 because one was a howler from their keeper and the other was a corner taken by Rico for Ake to head in. Let's also not forget in that game King has a decent goal ruled out because of VAR, he basically had bigger feet than the Saints defender.

He was also denied a blatant penalty in the 2nd half but it was during the phase where you had to Kung-fu kick someone in the head then hack their legs off with a chainsaw before VAR would overturn penalties.

Josh King on form\with the rub of the green, looked like one of our best players, second only to Ake. The bursting forwards with the ball having bamboozled an opponent and creating chances.

When he's not on form, the ball isn't bouncing for him, I'm wondering why he bothered that trick, or didn't pass the ball - particularly in some of the areas he got the ball.

We saw too much of the latter King and not enough of the former last season. If a team gets the on form King, then they've got a top player. If not, they'll be a little disappointed as some of us clearly were this season.

I don't have all the stats, but always struck me that Josh's best goal scoring form came after a few consecutive games. Effectively, I never expected him to score in the first 4-5 games returning from injury, but once he did and stayed fit he was consistent and had his best run of goals. This stop him giving everything, unfortunately his injuries meant that these prolonged runs haven't been so common.

He's given everything he can in the last 5 years, so when he goes we can't complain. Don't see value in reading too much into his training and travel arrangements, so long as he is staying fit. Note his international place is at jeopardy by not being in PL so he doesn't have to rush to move. Wouldn't surprise me if he played our first 2 games and then moved on.

He needs to move on. Played on after January disappointment but I don’t think he sees any future with us now. He’s been great for Bournemouth and I suspect he will start with a bang at his new club, but is prone to having games where things don’t work for him.
Hope he goes somewhere where he can get to play centrally as I would like to see just how well he does.
Good luck to him, surely he’s got to be the most likely to move?

His best goal scoring form was in 2016 -2017 over the course of 2 seasons. This spell is often put down to him playing the central 9 role, which he certainly played more often, but not exclusively during this period.

He often played with Afobe and whilst he wasn’t as deep a 10 as he had been this season, he was still the 1 in behind the 1 of Afobe fairly regularly and he was wide occasionally too.

King might have preferred to have had the spotlight of that role, but his versatility meant he was, for the good of the team, shifted about. We got more out of King and other players with him in other roles. That should have been seen as a compliment to him. But every time he went on international duty we got stories of him moaning which he would then deny.

I think this is highlighted when you look at other campaigns.

King’s most prolific season was 2016/17 where he was involved in 18 goals (scoring 16). AFCB scored 45 goals.

2017/18 King was involved in 11 goals (scoring 8). AFCB scored 45 goals again.

In 2018/19 King was involved in 15 goals (scoring 12). AFCB scored 56 goals.

Nice. I'll definitely miss the countless opportunities where he ran to the line, had the chance to square to a teammate...but then tried to nutmeg the opposition and lost the ball. He scored some good goals but is very replaceable.

...one of the best to have worn the shirt.

Will have to agree to disagree on that one.

I think it could be as simple as the guy had a purple patch and performed above himself for that period. Tbh in hindsight for him he probably should have looked for a move then as his stock was never going to be higher.

That was also the summer we started handing out the big contracts. Given we had just finished 9th and the new stadium was still in the pipeline, probably quite a few players thought we were going to push on after that. If they had the time again, I suspect different decisions might have been made.
