Non - Matt Ritchie

I agree .... a few older heads from the prem would probably have stabilised the side last year.

We bought young talent (hoping it would improve), which it often didn't along with Championship hangers on.
The average age is a red herring.

To be fair, the two best young uns were injured for most of the year, and the other one was in goal at the mercy of what came at him, so it's hard to say it was misplaced hope on young talent.

You are totally spot on, Matt is a player who gives his all 100%. He is a great crosser of a ball, good at free kicks penalties & scores. Also gives other players some stick if they are not trying, what they could have done with last season. He would be a massive improvement to our side. He trains hard & is fit for the roll he would be required to do. I for one would like to see him back at bournemouth. The geordies love him ,he is well respected in the north east.
I would also add he has often been played out of position and done so with little issue, while still being Prem quality.

I don't want to point out the stark staring obvious double standard, but if it were not for Eddie himself returning to the club from a higher level then we might be somewhere else entirely today. On its merits it makes perfect sense to bring back Matt, if he wants to of course.

Nothing wrong with experience but a tired pair of legs isn't going to help. I would like to think some of our existing youth have learnt a lot over a short period of time and its up to the coaches to point them in the right direction.
Yes i think Matt has still got a lot to give but whats the next step Brett Pitman :eek!:

We had experienced heads, the only problem they were all in the treatment room at the same time and hardly played any games.
We did have experienced heads Billy but they were Championship heads playing in the Premiership. I was talking more of having a few seasoned Premiership players around who know the nuances of the league ..... people like Johnny Evans in terms of age and experience.

I'm still convinced that EH was trying to replicate how Ritchie played for us with the Wilson signing. Sadly, it didn't work out that way. In the championship, a left wing of Stacey and Ritchie sounds very good indeed. Not one for signing players just because they've played for us before, but this is one I'd snap up given the chance. As mentioned above, if we were still in the Prem, no. But the goalposts have moved now.
I think they'd both be better on the right wing?

Would be gutted to see Callum go as I had hoped we'd be able to keep hold till maybe January, but if the money is right and Ritchie is up for the challenge... Then good business...

I do think Callum does love this club but I think we all wished he had done more last season, too many games where he didn't seem to want to get into it. As long as there will be a plan to get a striker in who can score in this division, I won't be too gutted if this all goes through.
