afcbTV Live

Just registered, paid with pay pal - all good. There's an option to cast on the video they're showing so hopefully that'll still be there for the live games.

God that takes me back. I well remember FORTRAN IV back in the early sixties and producing reams of paper output, followed by punching millions of cards - great fun for first year students being introduced to the 'new' computer technology ;)

I was a Cobol programmer, seems like a century ago!

Aaaah, punchcards. Got quite adept at reading those.

You can click watch live any time. Behind it is a test video with no sound. But that way you can test your hardware and bandwidth. Feel free to click it if you’re curious, it won’t do any harm ! Obviously tomorrow it will link directly to the live stream approx one hour before kickoff they say. So hopefully we’ll get to see some sprinkler action and groundsmen prodding the turf with rods before the real action starts !

Thanks Gazzy, I’ll look forward to that then!

sorry to be another one struggling with this but this may be simple,I purchased yesterday and the box said purchased or similar, but today its saying purchase will it change to paid tomorrow do we know.

Mine took about 12 hours to change to Watch Live. If you click on your account on the top right hand corner it should show that you have ordered it, as long as it does, you’ll be fine.

Thanks just checked as you say and its there ,my fault was not signed in.

So the objections are about the club holding cash for the same game twice, first for the season ticket and then again for the stream? Even if the refund will eventually come through.

It does seem odd. Surely season ticket holders could opt in to the match and have that amount deducted from their refund.
Did not get a refund for last season

Personally I think it’s pretty shoddy that this service is being provided to season ticket holders at other clubs for free. The option was there, for home and midweek away games but the club choose not to take it.

It would have been more palatable had a season ticket option the same price as the international supporters were being offered was there but it’s not. That could be an issue with the EFL of course, but the decision to go it alone and charge all fans looks clearly like a decision by the club.

From my international perspective, I think there is something rather tinpot with the EFL's whole policy.
The PL is accustomed to courting international audiences and has adjusted its broadcasting policies accordingly.
However, it seems that the whole set of EFL regulations governing this streaming service, including the international side, are all based on the outdated idea that it's only local English lads who want to watch these games.
The prime directive, so to speak, seems to be related to fear that fans won't show up at grounds if they can watch a cheap stream online.
So, 7 or 10 pounds may seem cheap when compared to buying a ticket, but international fans can't buy tickets anyway, and the price is crazy compared to everything else on offer.
Add in the fact you can't watch on-demand (good luck if you live in Los Angeles and your game kicks off at 4:30am) and it just smacks of utter incompetence, ignorance, and/or asininity.

The ban on VOD is annoying for sure.
Apparently AFCBTV is planning to show highlights of the matches, so if we miss one, we can at least see the goals and more as VOD on COWS.
But for 7 pounds I agree the live provider could put the games you bought a pass for in a VOD section of the live site. Can’t see why that is not possible. They must own the rights to do so.

I’m most intrigued by the commentary synch with Radio Solent. That sounds challenging. In previous years the COWS Solent stream often had Dave Merrington banging on about Saints because somebody at Solent had forgotten to re-route the feeds to the right frequencies.

We could end up watching AFCB to the sound of some spurious Southampton game. Or it will go out of synch and Willo will be shouting “Get in !!!” as we watch Travers roll the ball out to a defender !
:slap:

Should be fun !

Under normal circumstances, it’s a no brainer to not really worry about supporting international fans. The demand just isn’t there. Fans will support clubs watch them drop down and then slowly drift off and lose interest if they don’t bounce back up. It’s just the way it is.

Supporting match going fans is the bread and butter for clubs. That’s where the income is. That’s why the blackout is so important and why streams can cause long term affect on attendances.

But right now, it’s not normal circumstances as no one can go. Interest levels are already waining as the “product” is less attractive with no atmosphere.

That’s why longer term it’s best to support fans during this period rather than the short term cash grab.

Its all getting reviewed as early as next month. I think the idea was that ST holders might only miss a few games before getting priority to be let back in hence free passes . Norwich have 20K ST holders so the club are losing £200k a game. I bet they start charging if this fan ban goes on further than expected.

Except for the fact that they actually DO have a separate policy/package for international fans. And from an international perspective it is pretty crap.
