AFC Bournemouth v Reading

When they mention a game of two halves this one fits that bill.

All started with the substitution of Rico bringing Mepham on and switching Kelly to left back.

Then Solanke scored a brace and really deserved his second goal with his determination to win the ball off their goalkeeper.

David Brooks defence splitting pass to Danjuma who put it away well.

The icing on the cake was the superb goal from L Cook after a pass from MOM David Brooks.

We have knocked Reading off the top of the perch and taken their place depending on later results.

Don't you mean it takes the biscuit!

After having a quick look picked out two contrasting posts from the Reading forum. I suppose this is what football forums are about. ;)

Right, let me start by saying first half we looked really good. The passing was crisp, defence was tight, goals were well deserved.

We should have had a second penalty. Aluko (?) was fouled. I feel that the ref thought he made a bad decision for the first penalty and wanted to even things up.

Brooks should've been sent off second half for kicking the ball away twice. Ref was atrocious.

I think Pauno thought we would hold out for a while after their first goal. Olise was good, but Meite didn't touch the ball, Moore looked poor as well. Oh and let me say that Solanke handballed for their 4th goal. You can see how his hand moved the ball. And Begovic cheated as well.

Of course I am gutted but that was a great match to watch. Sometimes you just have to accept you are beaten by the better side and Bournemouth were fantastic second half. Superb attacking play by both sides.

Realistically we are not going up this season and most likely will end mid table. My main worry is whether the Bowen effect is now wearing off and whether Pauno will have the ability to turn the current situation round. He has no doubt made us more exciting going forwards but the defensive steel that Bowen brought back has now gone and we look very shaky at the back.

Folk eating crispy duck and goats cheese on matchday, then wonder why we're losing.

I'm gonna take some credit, for eating matchday fare at HT and turning this game around.

crispy duck is the new prawn sarnie

But we were in the first half.

It would be a pretty boring afternoon if we couldn't comment until the final whistle.
. . .
Its a funny old game..................................
To be honest I thought we outplayed them overall in the first half. A couple lapses of concentration caught us out, and they were also very lucky.
Luckily, their luck ran out!

Can somebody find me more like this?

This blokes not a Biscuit, he's an absolute Ritz Cracker.
Anyway, how the heck did Begovic "cheat"? By using his arms to keep the ball from crossing our goal line?
Their pen might have been overturned by VAR; Bego had his arms out but the guy just leapt into the air on his own.

Or maybe 15 minutes after, with time for reasoned adult reflection.

Today we went from "Tindall out" to "Tindall outstanding"

First half we weren’t bad per se but the way we were going about things was so ponderous and low energy, you just couldn’t see us threatening them without some moment of magic from somebody. We did our usual thing of stopping play on the edge of their box and then passing side to side and backwards, waiting for an opening in their packed final third. It just wasn’t going to happen as we’ve seen plenty of times already this season.
Second half we gave them reason to be scared of our quality and we were able to tear them apart with pace and skill. We had more movement in midfield, down the flanks and into their box. That is where our strengths lie IMO and we need to stop trying to pass the ball through a packed final third time and again. That may work one time in fifty but it’s not what we should be trying to do.
