Joshua King

'on paper'
I'm talking on the pitch, Dan plays for himself, Brooks is in and out.
I would say Lewis and Dom could go forward the rest I have my doubts.

Out of all of the players that you could have chosen a playing for himself you chose Dan.

That's the last thing that you could accuse him of, if other players with more ability but had his desire and love for the club, we would have stayed up last season. He's from the Cookie, Surman and franno era that were proper AFCB Club men

Not sure he means Dan Gosling...

There's a rumour doing the rounds with my West Ham mates that the deal has been done at 10 million for a while now. Proviso is that King doesn't play in case of injury. How this relates to him training/keeping match fit, my mate can't tell me.

..I think that if this is the case it sets a dangerous precedent, if clubs should be allowed to do this...and it would be much better to be upfront and declare if we agreed to this? at least then we could put the whole affair to bed and just move on...thing is though he has played for us and Norway so begs the question how the rumour has any substance?

I doubt we care about Wham's generous offer enough to not risk playing JK. We'd play him ( as we are entitled to do ) if we felt there was a need to do so. It just so happens that there is no need and by happy coincidence he is currently just at home gettin' gud at FIFA on his PS5.

If there is any truth in this rumour that West Ham see him as their future striker, I hope they are not expecting him to have an instant impact. He really hasn't had much football at all ( other than PS5 FIFA, obvs. ) since the Summer.

If we can get 10 million for him in January ( even if it is only in instalments ) and off the wage bill, as already mentioned, that would be decent business for us.

If we got promoted I would say.....

only these would be able to hold down a place in the team with any confidence..

Begovic
Brooks
Lerma
L Cook
Danjuma
Solanke

these would need to seriously prove themselves as consistent and able

Rico
Kelly
Mepham
Stanislas
Surridge
Billing
Travers
Stacey

I fear these would maybe not cope as aging stars or be able to be developed as young talent?

S Cook (Squad experience)
Smith (Squad experience)
Gosling (probably moved on?)
Simpson (not good enough IMO)
Kilkenny (probably won't get many chances at PL level)
Oforborh (see above)
Anthony (see above)
Zemura (see above)

I have not included Carter-Vickers or Riqueleme as they are loans and still to really show what they might give us??

which in all honesty would mean that JT would need some serious dosh to spend on defence (CB & LB) another midfielder and a couple of strikers? (replacing Ake,the jock rat,King and Wilson)

Obviously this is open to differing opinions but this would be mine in the harsh realities of PL survival :)

I'm assuming he meant Danjuma not Gosling haha

...you would bite anyone's hand off for 10 million!

Agreed some serious spending would be required, but turning over that many players would be suicide, Kelly and Stacey are young enough to improve, Steve Cook has played 5 seasons in the Premier league, likewise Smith.

...I would keep Smithy and Steve Cook of course given their PL expereince but don't think that they would be first choice in the main...I would hope that the second list would come through and prove worthy of being PL players and I am sure that most would..

All opinions are valid and all that but you aren't confident that S Cook will hold down a place in the team if we got promoted? He's 29, not 34 and is the base around which our backline is built.

Also, when fit, Stanislas was pretty much our most consistent performer in the PL. The problem has always been keeping him fit but that's never been related to his wages.

Don't forget with the imminent removal of parachute payments clubs going up will have to completely change how they go about things. It's going to have to be a different approach as there's no guarantee of several seasons of high income which will affect money that can be paid on transfers and also mean major issues with players who won't want to face compulsory massive cuts to their wages in case of relegation.

It'll be a different world with much less spending for a club like us if we go up.

Good point Kirsikka...and maybe that is not a bad thing as we would need to give our youngsters more PL time..however failure is paid in manager's jobs and it would take a brave soul to put his faith in untried talent?

The one thing I hated about the PL was the ridiculous wages of players of all clubs...I mean Callum being paid so much really grated with me..
