David Brooks

as a matter of interest, have u listened to the afcb podcast featuring him? it may not suit your "anyone vaguely famous is a shallow moron" agenda, but he comes across as a very sincere, educated chap (much like yourself) that doesnt really need to lie. he is ultra professional, and explains honestly how & why the conditions that might mean he would leave afcb.

I was referring( or was meaning to) to Club news outlets ' lying' about 'injuries' not the players themselves, but I take the point of your posts overall content.

Yes. AFCB would hardly do a podcast with him if he was banging on the door to leave in the January window. He wants to get us promoted and then see where he can go from there. He is ambitious so will leave if it could progress his career but he certainly isn't thinking that way this season. He comes across as the kind of player who would always commit to a full season wherever he plays but would sensibly look at his options every summer. But as he states in the interview, he wouldn't move for money, only if he felt it would further his career. Sounds like a great attitude and totally professional of him. He's a very well grounded lad and I hope he can get over his injury woes and continue to show the footballing world just how good he can be.

I think Dan Jumper might be on his way !

'Injuries' are a far different concept than in ...the Old Game....enigmatic to say the least.

Lying and deceit towards fans wrapped up in sparse bulletins are the norm now !
Oh you're taking the p1ss out of one of our foreign players name's again......how hilarious...

Match day is almost here again .. a big one for us...If we could get ALL our best players on at once for this one..for once.. that would be ideal.

Players like Gosling and S.Cook season by season, week by week...are virtually Always Available.
Sorry...but its true !

Funny, you never do that with Steve Cook, for example.....

I favour the Brits slightly...I have to admit...and Stevo has ' done his time' at DC.
Some of my posts tend to sarcasm....out of frustration when we sign players who seem to take forever to settle in...or even get to play more than a few games...yet cost a fair bit !
I'm 100% certain that many other fans share that view!

Thought we deserved a point last night but hey ho the games gone and now we must rally for the match against Stoke.
It’s young Brooks that fascinates me. He truly is an enigma.
He has gone through a number of purple patches this season when he has looked like a free flowing boy genius.
Then there are patches when he has seemed almost anonymous.
In our recent games I feel his form has again not been reflective of his ability.
Is he just inconsistent?
Is he still not yet fully fit?
Does he not yet have the stamina required?
Is he being tapped up by a big premier club?
Or is it a case of ‘Stop over reacting Snoots, leave the young whippersnapper alone and pour yourself a stiff filly....’

Good questions Snoots. He wasn't at the races last night, ironic for a player who has often shone when the rest of the team have been mediocre. I thought he was too wide - he's much better when playing more centrally, or roaming across the park behind the forwards. And yes, I wouldn't be surprised if he was being tapped/lined up for a big money move. Doubt he will be going back to Sheff Utd though!

I think Brooks is one of those players who’s style of play is brilliant and game changing when he’s on it. If his game drops by 10% then it falls apart. The one touches don’t work with the accuracy required, the slight of turn to fool the opposition isn’t quite deft enough.

said earlier on another post I believe with no pace in the top 3 or players running beyond solanke the little one twos are fine but then where do you go??
No running behind their defenders and the full backs are so far behind that is rarely an option

Brooks had glandular fever at Sheffield United where just walking up stairs left him exhausted and the virus can still have effects later on. Don’t know if it’s still an issue now but maybe a factor as I don’t think the two games a week routine suits him. However, yesterday should have been ok given we had a decent break.

I would prefer him in a more central no 10 type role where he can look for space.
