Thierry Henry

And a huge profile, which may be of greater use at this time to the board
But does a huge profile work against him ,and the board, if things don’t go well?
Are we seeking profile or ability to do the job? If profile why not Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga?

Henry and Woodgate could actually be a managerial dream team.
With the added bonus of Henry raising our profile dramatically. I mean really, a massive name in world football and world cup winner comes in to manage this little club on the south coast ? It would be a story and a massive statement of intent from the board ! Talk about shaking off the smalltime ( please, nobody mention the stadium ! ).

If he is serious about making a name for himself as a manager in England, his coming to Bournemouth with Woodgate as backup does seem like it could be an attractive proposition.

I'm starting to feel it, but only as a duo. So we'll need to extend JW's contract beyond the end of the season too. If it's a goer, I say let's do it ! There is no such thing as a guarantee for success but these two could be the perfect combination of experience and complementary strengths and weaknesses.

If it doesn't come off, we should probably stick with JW and give him a chance to make a bit of a name for himself.

Seriously?????????? I'm not buying into this one bit. He's a big name, granted, He hasn't set the world a light so far. If this is the best on offer, I would stick with JW, who has clearly got our defence keeping clean sheets. We're not looking great up front at the mo, but Solanke has been out and we're having to adapt to a different style up front.

Perhaps they think he can lure decent players to the club. That’s the only thing I can think of but that isn’t enough to appoint him. Eddie and less so Jason had that effect.

If JW does not get appointed as manager it would not surprise me if Bristol City came in for him. I hope we give him at least a few more games before making a decision. At the moment there is no need to make a decision.

2 weeks ago Woodgate was just a big name who hadn’t set the world a light with a poor managerial record at Boro...

Wagner was a hot prospect before he lost 16 games at Schalke.

Tindall had the best record of any new manager at AFCB and was the last club in the country to lose a game.

Things change quickly in football .

Obviously I would hope to be proven wrong, but this feels like a disaster waiting to happen. The greatest prem player of all time, but absolutely nothing to suggest he is management material....yikes.

I get you're getting excited about it. Personally, I'm not.

I find it all getting quite sureal, the days of buckets at the ground, the Winter Gardens, so close to slipping into non league. Bradders, Jimmy Quinn et all

Move on a dozen years or so, here we are moaning (not all) about a World Cup winning, playing legend, all time great and winner of just about everything there is to win becoming our next manager. Funny old game. :grinning:

Rotherham could/should have had 3 on Wednesday so this defensive organisation stuff is rubbish IMO. JW’s big advantage is that the players seem to like him and he knows the Championship. But let’s not kid ourselves that he has done anything to suggest he can get the best out of our talented squad.

Absolutely! 12 years ago tomorrow (20th Feb) we were losing 1-0 away at Chesterfield. It was the only trip I’ve made to Chesterfield. It still boggles my mind the journey we’ve been on over the last decade or so.

Yeah been there, stayed the weekend and did the Bampton mile, house, chippy, pub, house, chippy, pub, house, chippy, pub. Went for a Ruby after and Chris Kamara was on the next table :) Great crack. Must have been about 2002ish
