Joshua King

What's dishonest about wanting a move?......is promising him a move and then reneging on that promise dishonest?

Are you genuinely asking what's dishonest about doing everything you legally can to distrupt services provided under a signed contract of work?

How many of the 38 games at around £100k each is it acceptable to pull a sickie for in your book?

Don't suppose you got any work going? ;-)

Come on now. He clearly feigned injury on a number of occasions to avoid playing, while still being paid. Wanting a move is one thing, behaving like he did is another. He also wouldn’t have been promised a move, he would have been promised a move IF a club met our asking price. We can’t give him away just because he doesn’t want to be here. When he signed a long term contract in good money he took the risk that another club may not stump up the cash to buy him out of it. Stop defending him.

thats the key thing, I don;t believe Man U met our valuation at the time plus was last minute bid iirc giving us no chance to source a replacement.

funny thing is, if we had sold him for 20 million or whatever it was, people would have been up in arms at the board for letting him go too cheaply and possibly causing us to be relegated. I think we did the right thing at the time in rejecting it, sadly I think things went downhill with King from there, which says more about King than our board imo. And tbf, for all the critiscm they get, out current board have demonstrared they won't be bent over, bullied or sell players on the cheap, like we've always done historically.

Wish him well......I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Josh really has something to prove now and he should be hungry.

Previous interest from West Ham has likely cooled and, even if Josh did go there, he could expect the same bench warming duties as he had at Goodison. Apart from Newcastle, or one of the three promoted clubs, I can't see any Premier League club picking King up. Although, available on a free, he might be on Dyche's radar.

If I were his agent, I would be approaching AFCB. Perhaps Parker could build a rapport and get the best out of Josh. Getting him on the payroll somewhere, anywhere, now must be a priority. The longer King is out of work, the more his value in terms of salary demands falls.

Chances of him coming back, though, must be rather small and, I would guess, quite a few supporters would not be overly welcoming.

yes, ultimately the balls in his court (especially now). if he's good enough and works hard, applies himself he'll get the contract he believes he deserves. football is generally a meritocracy after all.

"generally"

mostly it is, if a player is good enough, in demand etc they'll get a lucrative deal at a decent club. club carries risk sometimes in that if a player suddenly goes down hill, can;t be bothered, they still have to pay the contract or take a loss if moving them on.

Playing back up to Pedro and Deeney, pleased he’s finally getting the move he’s been dreaming of

He and Pedro would probably be competing for a wide attacking role.

If we have any sense Deeney or Andre Gray won’t be our main striker.

We seem to have brought a few players with attitude issues though like Danny Rose !

I have to say, some of your signings have been atrocious. Josh King didn’t even look threatening in the championship last season, he’s lost a yard of pace and without the ability to outpace his opponents he offers next to nothing. Danny Rose is exactly the type of player you want to avoid in a relegation battle, best days behind him and there to pick up a pay packet. Ashley Fletcher is simply strange, not even sure he’s good enough for the championship. Etebo seems to have flopped massively in Turkey and Stoke don’t even want to keep him. The Brugge striker seems like a bit of a wildcard signing, ability seems to be there but attitude problems are well known. I get that money is tight but is this really the best you are able to attract? Like you say, it’s not even like they are less talented players who are renowned for their fight and work ethic.
