Arnaut Danjuma

Barely a profit off the back of a great season, disappointing.
It's post pandemic valuations now regretfully. Armstrong was being linked with Premier league clubs last season and figures of 25 - 30 million were being bandied about. I've heard the fee for him will be 8 million plus a load of add ons. Newcastle will get quite a chunk of that.

As alluded to by others, I agree I don’t have much of an emotional attachment to him as others as I’ve barely seen him in the flesh.

He will be very quickly forgotten which I’m sure won’t register with his ego, which I don’t think matches his talents.

It’s a profit, but not by much, but a profit nonetheless, maybe £5million that could be reinvested in the squad.

If La Liga defences are in general as poor as the last time I saw them, he will look fantastic.

Is it being petty to be disappointed with that fee? He’s in a similar ball park to Buendia in terms of age and stats so why is he worth £15 million less??? Not like his contract was running out next year or anything either...
Price is what someone’s prepared to spend. Danjuma’s put out his come and get me stuff, is “injured”, the window is closing and it’s (hopefully) money up front.

We could hold out for (eg) West Ham to spaff more on deadline day but given the timing, the circumstances and Parker’s new broom it’s time to take what’s on the table and crack on.

Very very happy with this.

lol.

€25m actually equates to £21.3m today so it's a little better than earlier reported.

... and £21.3m in readies available as of immediately, is probably the same as £25-£30m over 3 years' worth of instalments...

IMO, great business and well done to all involved... Would have liked to have seen him at a PL club to see if he could actually walk the walk in the PL, but we take the dosh and hopefully bring in 3 new players on the back of the sale of a guy had 1 great season for us... Thx Arnie and good luck :)

In light of the fee paid for Tammy Abrahams by Roma, this probably represents a price in the right ball park.

Technically he's not signed so still time for someone to gazump now they know that £22m should do the job.

Good business, plenty of time to replace.

Is satisfactory business, yes. Arnie is injury prone and not proven premier league player so good luck to Arnie and we take the money and can hopefully buy two good players for that.

I do know what you mean. But just bear in mind Norwich were in a much better bargaining position thanks to their promotion (no need to sell), and the fact the buyer was a big spending PL club.

Getting £20m (up front as well?!) out of La Liga is not easy right now. Maybe we could squeeze a bit more out of them if we wait until deadline day, but not significantly more I'd have thought. And we'd be unable to recruit replacements and leave ourselves short.

Like the Surridge sale but on a larger scale, this is probably a fair and reasonable deal for us. The harder part is now: getting the signings right!

Tbf I didn’t realise it was upfront, that is definitely a good thing. I’m fine with it lol probably just being greedy.

.

Now isn't that funny how we interpret things differently.

Because I think his ego MORE than matches his talent. Yes, he is good, but I really don't think he's as good as HE thinks he is.

Glad that he has now departed. I have been reliably told that he refused to be treated by Steve Hard and sought out private physio and then handed the club the bill. Hardly a team player.
Our record with injuries has been absymal. Examples of players he deemed could carry on but then were out for months… Parker got shot of Hard and the crew we have had presiding over fitness and injury issues for years. Maybe Danjuma not that silly after all.

What a bitter outlook. The DJ book of positive thought will be in a bookshop near you at Christmas.

Excellent player, champions league pedigree, stayed a year to help us get up and got us in the play offs on his own pretty much. Some of the greatest goals we’ve ever seen and left at a profit.

Still, as he is not a donkey with no skill sticking around trying hard let’s slag him off.

Pathetic.
