Did JT do a good job?

I think JT did a good enough job to keep us in the top six for most of the first half of season, had some good performances and able to inspire team .Once again look at Biscuits visit, the commentators waxed lyrical about how the morale of the team had increased from previous season.
Then when we got to Xmas ,there there seemed to be a collective about our players that they couldn't be arsed anymore.

He should never have been given the job as he was part of a backroom staff that had been relegated and had a squad that had gone stale.
Although results in the main were good to start with,we were not exciting to watch and his tactics and subs were questionable at times.

Parker has started well but he has been backed in the transfer market and has the advantage of fans in the grounds starved of football.
He also hasn't hit a bad patch yet and that's often how a manager really earns his corn,by the way he reacts to a poor spell.

In a word,I don't think Tindall did a good job,he did an average job.

As Rob said, he just about did ok considering squad at his disposal. I was massively underwhelmed and concerned when he was appointed.

Hard to be too harsh as he served us well as assistant during our best years ever so far.

Sounds like he may never have been plan A, possibly a stop gap until preferred targets became available/interested.

Had some unbeaten runs, but even then I wasn't particularly impressed by what I was seeing, bar a handful of games. Was hoping we'd turn the draws, narrow wins, into more convincing performances each game, but it never materialized.

As Waz mentioned, way too defensive, and seemed to rely on Danjuma or Stanislas pulling out a moment of magic too often in pretty uninspiring performances.

Overall what he delivered was below average to maybe ok.

I think it is a bit harsh of JT.
He took over from a relegated team and lost quite a few so called key players whilst wasn’t able to bring hardly anyone in, and when he did ie Carter vickers who was injured during his reign. ( now compare the incomings against what Parker has been able to)
The left back scenario drove all us fans potty last season “should it be Rico, should it be Kelly”
He successful brought back begovic.
Solanke was starting as a proper centre forward, for the first time, and our only real back up was unknown surridge and mr ‘headache’ josh king.

Now from what I have seen this season I love the football we are playing , the squad depth and we are a joy to watch …

without the influx of injuries during the start of the season , we may not have seen the like of Zemura etc play . Going back to the MK dons cup , first real game of the season, Parker started with Smith at left back .

I think one of the big differences is coaching staff brought in this season . This needed revamping big time as I think there were many going though the motions.

I'm a great believer that any manager who inherits a good side with a decent record like JT did will do well initially. Eddie went out with a bit of a bang with the win at Everton and the side were not playing badly before Lockdown.

When things needed to change, forced (injuries) and unforced (poor performance, fatigue) he was void of ideas.

It went wrong around January. Millwall, Luton, Derby, Reading (that game was the one I thought JT wasn't up to it. My family are Reading fans and apart from the stick, if we are honest had they been more clinical they could have beaten us 6, 7 or 8-1. Embarrassing and pissed me right off) and Sheffield Wednesday (got back in the game when were never in it, then surrendered a point to a very poor side. If you want to see my frustrated side that free for all on my part was embarrassing but born out of anger at a side who should be putting Wednesday to the sword).

In those last two games JT made 3 subs all at once. That isn't a confident manager, that's one that's panicking. It's what I would do on Football Manager with no hope left.

JT was a great servant, a solid player, excellent number 2 to Eddie... but not a manager. That said he did a better job than Jimmy Quinn would do

Must just view it how it was ....JT did his best under difficult circumstances but ultimately fell short of what was required...
Fell short of what was expected by the owner, but truth is we will never know one way or other, if with JW, the two of them might have gone as far or further. Opinions a plenty but no conclusive fact.

It would be wrong to characterise last season as a failure, especially taking advantage of this moment when we are top, to take some moral high ground to judge JT or JW.

6,7 or 8-1 really?....lol......we had a poor first half but the 3 subs you mentioned improved us in the second half....we actually had 19 Shots in that game.....some of the chances we missed were easier to score than miss tbf......as for the 3 subs being a sign of a lack of confidence from the manager ...lol.....most of the manager's in the league must have been nervous wreaks then because everyone was doing it due to the 5 sub rule..... Valerien Ismael did it in just about every single game .

From the luton game the team began to struggle for results. JT took over from Eddie players went and no pmayers came in for money.king had been.promised a move and when it didn't come about he downed tools.JT left the side in 6th place when sacked and that's where we finished. For me he did a good job under the circumstances others will differ.only way we would have k own is if he had finished the season .Think we will Ser him back with Eddie as number 2 sooner rather than.later.

That's clever uses of stats. When he left, we were in sixth but dropping down the table after a series of poor performances and very little positive to indicate that we might turn it around.

We finished sixth, but only because Woodgate made the mistake of throwing games at the end of the season once automatic was gone. If we'd gone into them full throttle we'd have finished higher.
