Chris Mepham

If none of our players ever made a mistake then maybe we'd win everything. Unfortunately there is a mistake or more in all of us and as the saying goes (from the Bible) 'Let him who is without sin cast the first stone'. So let's give the guy some space and encourage him instead of dragging him down. Is anyone on here perfect? Certainly not me!

If any of our players never made a mistake, they wouldn't be our players... They be playing for City or Liverpool...

Without wanting to go down this rabbit whole as well, but this also is exactly the reason why we should still look to build the training academy and improve our status... so players that spend prolonged time out of the first XI get decent reserve game time and keep up their levels to that which would see them slot straight in to first XI games... But lets stop this discussion here :)

It’s not just the fact that he makes mistakes though. It’s the nature of the mistakes, the fact that they are virtually always entirely avoidable really basic school boy errors. And the frequency of the mistakes, the fact that he never learns from them. No centre half at this level should be making these kind of mistakes so often. It’s not good enough.

I think the frustrating thing is with defenders especially, is that there is a baseline they have - which a lot of the time is.... just hoof it!

Just defend first, the other stuff comes later. That's why the Brentford thing was so annoying and avoidable.

He's made it into The Guardian's Standout Players of the last 16.

Chris Mepham, Wales
Wales reached the last 16 thanks to the four points they picked up against Switzerland and Turkey, games in which Chris Mepham put in two solid displays at centre-back. Wales conceded just one goal in those games and he ranked first for tackles and interceptions combined (nine) and second for clearances (nine). Rating: 7.17

I still don't rate him though ;):throw:

If he can keep the errors from last season out of his game and bring the form he has shown for Wales to Dean Court, we could see a much improved player in our back line this coming season.

How many games has this poor player lost for us? I cannot understand why he is still here. Let's hope he gets "flushed away" during the next window.
