Ethan Laird

Telegraph reporting that he will be recalled by Man U from Swansea and spend second half of the season on loan here. Right back. Huge hug true. Outstanding attacking right back at this level and a clear upgrade on what we have. He is the guy who nutmegged Davis three times in the first ten minutes if you needed reminding.
I have just re-watched our 4-0 win against Swansea and noticed that 3 of our goals came from attacks down Lairds side of the pitch, and that he was (to be generous) 'slightly slow' at getting back. I'm not doubting his quality going forward, but would hope that he's not as lazy as the video would suggest when it comes to transitions to defence.

He played wing back for Swansea, for us he will play full back which is his natural position.

This guy I believe is an upgrade on Stacey . Stacey has been better last 2 games but general I think he is a bit of a weak link and therefore if you can improve your starting team then that is a bonus

Wasnt there a stat a few weeks ago that we hadnt conceded in any game Jack Stacey played in?

Just goes to show that stats are often a pile of .... I like Stacey by the way and think he's been a good signing for us. He went through a blip for a couple of games but seems better again now. We need another right back though for rotation/cover. Stacey himself gets injured a fair bit. He's done well to keep over the last few months.

Possibly. Or that Davis will go back and he plans to use Smith as a left back option. Smith has been good this season but in all honesty Laird looks next level from what I’ve seen, such an attacking threat. His pace and power makes him unplayable at this level at times.

Great news then. I didn't know parent clubs were allowed to cancel loans so they can reloan elsewhere. The Swans must be annoyed. Good news for us, though. The fact we've got him as well suggests he and United know he's going to play. I wonder if Stacey is injured or if Brady/Davis are out and we are intending to use Stacey or Laird as the left back.

Sounds more like a character played by John Wayne in a Western - are you sure he's a footballer?

He's a comin' in on the Deadwood Stagecoach with Wyatt Earp who is signin' from Dodge City...
...stopping to change horses at Tombstone Ridge near Bristol...and pick up Dem Gray who will ride Shotgun as they slip through Somerset County....where the Cider Bandits lay in wait to poach them for the Big Yeovil Shootout at the Huish Corral....
Marshall 'Thinlips' Parker and a Posse of equally mean looking dudes will intercept the delegation at Penn Mill Ranch...and escort them through the dusty plains of Dosset County.

I think it’s an area we needed an upgrade in tbh. Stacy has been poor recently. Even in his better game against QPR he was very lucky not to give a penalty away when he needlessly raised his arm in the area. It’s those kind of moments that make him a little bit of a defensive liability.
What are you talking about, Stacey's arm was pushed up by the challenge he received. At least get the facts right.

I'm wondering if thats what parker is really going for. Attackkng fullback stacey is, its not quite as threatening down the right as it is with zemuras linkups/runs at present.
Agreed. He's seen the threat we pose down the left and is trying to replicate it on the right too. Makes sense.

cant see this discussed elsewhere?
isn't Laird a wingback, certainly not a fullback
he's improving since injury so I'd like to see Stacey given a run of games
